I loved the SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch. It was a heavy duty clutch though. So it took a few thousand miles to break in and stop chattering at take off.

It comes with a new TOB for factory replacement. The sleeved kit/TOB wasn't available at the time. Had I still the OEM trans, I'd have purchased that.

With the OEM transmission, I used the Fidanza lightweight flywheel. The URD lightweight Steel flywheel wasn't available. I believe the steel flywheel chatters less as well.

With the T56, I had to use the OEM flywheel, as it was needed to be able to install the pilot bearing. That one was resurfaced. With a new stage 3+ disk for the T56, and the OEM flywheel, it never chattered once.

I absolutely love the T56. Far better. Supurb and crisp shifting. Repairable. Choice for different gear ratios. Modability and support.

Expensive to do the swap, but never need to look back once done. Not for 4x4 crowd though. Not without more expense and modification, since an adapter and awd transfer case are needed.

 

Read on some URD thing somewhere that Gadget has a T56 setup with different ratios for the 4x4 application. Forget where I saw it though.

^When it comes time for a new trans, I'll be looking for something like that. Above all I want to maintain 4x4.

@Torspd recommended the URD Stage 3 for quick engagement but the ability to slip for offroading/4x4ing

 

My true first hand experience of a recommendable clutch is only with SPEC Clutch. Stage 2+ or Stage 3+. They'll handle the additional mass of larger tires and heavy accessories added to the vehicle, without issue. These I recommend whole heartedly.

I have read about many people having good results with the URD Stage 3 as well. I have not read every review of those, and have only read the reviews on XRU. There might be more here that may or may not be similarly favorable. They do look quite similar in design to the SPEC Stage 3+ clutches.

I DO NOT recommend any Competition Clutch clutches.

Despite it all though, any crafty individual can screw up something that is dummy proof.

IF you decide to get a SPEC Clutch, I have one recommendation. Test fit the pressure plate onto the flywheel. Sometimes the powder coat is on thick around the dowel holes and will make it a little tight to fit easily. It would then need to be cleaned up in those areas.

I'd also invest in some better grease if you use that tob.
