Verified last night that the 1GR head studs fit perfectly in the 2AZ. That would be the next best option. If purchased individually. That or www.dezod.com

We used H Squared Performance Engines for the head work. Did a great job. Literally a mile from my house. Incredibly convenient.

 

Got the tc to run and as a gift Torspd and I also installed a high performance, glow in the dark, steering wheel cover with zip ties to properly secure it. Next car is the Subaru.

Also for the folks here that own a 2az, we decided to torque the head bolts to 58 ft lbs then dot and turn 90 degrees. Just in case y'all run into some miss information.

Here is another mod I did which greatly aided in a speedier completion.

This spike stud is upward pointing. It is threaded into the block. There is a similar one on the motor mount, behind my hand, which points downward. They make removing the passenger motor mount extremely difficult, due to the tight confines.



Double nut'd the stud and wrenched it out. Had a spare bolt from something from the Tacoma.... It'd be the dirty one towards the front. Proper length, then just used two bolts instead of one stud and one bolt.



For some odd reason, only the tC has this extra stud. Whereas the Corolla and Camery both have bolts. Oh well. All done.

Filled it up with some Castrol 5w-50. Which was on sale for $4.00 a quart! Bought that shelf. " Monitored coolant temps. Purged the system.

Been running perfectly since Saturday evening. Didn't even need the Timesert kit. Take that Toyota!!!!

No big updates. Just some little ones.

My OEM radio finally crawled under my skin enough to make me upgrade it. The volume knob would turn but the actual volume would most times not do what was being input. As well as I was tired of not having an aux input/blue tooth.

So did some searching around and came across the American International double din kit. By the reviews of the Metra Kit, I wanted to try another brand. Added plus that it was made here in the USA.





Fitment is flush, clean and easy. Purchased it from Amazon. As visible in the pictures, it is not textured like OEM, but that bothers me none.

I also added in some Infinity 6x9's up front. Dremeled out the OEM speaker, then screwed it down to what was effectively the frame.

The rear speakers definitely need adapter mounts. So I ordered up some from www.*********.com. That way I can finish those up.

Then what I have been wanting to do for the longest time. Get rid of the dual pillar pod. Back to OEM with the Autometer gauge holder. I've increased my visibility through that area again, which used to be a huge blind spot with the dual pods.



The inspection/registration stickers, + small gap between mirror & A-Pillar, + dual pods, made for a huge blockage.

 

I'd be interested in the dual pod mount if you want to part with it.

 

Rears with tweeters will sound amazing.

Well that there is great news! All Harmon group. Shortly after you moved, I upgraded my living room's surround system. JBL ES90's in the front, ES center, ES80's out back, and ES250 sub. I am so thoroughly pleased with that setup that I decided to keep it in the family for the truck. I wish you'd have been able to hear this system prior to leaving. Holy shit dude!

There is actually an event this December, on the 27th. Lucario Runner will be hitting it. I unfortunately, will be sitting it out. I have had a boost pressure head gasket leak since the last one. With both of my spare vehicles down, I haven't been able to work on it to get it all fixed up. Been putting in some serious wrench time with other vehicles, and it depresses me actually, that I haven't been able to fix it.

 

that's no fun, head gaskets are a pain

 

Out of topic, and probably way to late to mention now. But.... I could have given you the doors off the xrunner I stripped. You could have hollowed the doors to save weight! Lol

I need to do a compression test on the engine to verify which cylinder. However I am pretty certain that it is the passenger bank.
