If you mount higher will run into tunnel problems. Even the transferase is much larger an requires trimming. I mounted my motor center over the front strut towers an low an still the transfer case was hitting the body. But I'm goin 2wd now so doesn't matter

I figured. Luckily mine is more crawler oriented so I'm not too worried about cutting into the cab if I have too. 1" body lift should give me a little extra room to work with, but raising the motor doesn't sound like the best choice.

@Torspd so what is the word on the built motor? I've been seeing all this work on Goldylocks.

Inch body lift would be perfect

Yep! A lot of people bash on body lifts, but I've been pretty happy with my 1". I've beat my firewall back a ton and it still rubs. I couldn't imagine how much it would rub without that extra inch. Hell even in the back my tires hit the tops of the wheel wells in the bed at full stuff.

 Merry Early Christmas everybody!!! I have to warp some presents too. I'm terrible at wrapping them. Lol.

Spoke with the machinist this morning. He'd been there late last night. Almost finished. Said a little bit left to do today and he was working on it. I told him thank you, but to let it be until next Monday. To go an spend time with his family, as that is more important right now.

I have that issue when I go from my car to my wife's car. For some reason I don't usually have an issue when going from my car to the Taco. Have you ever went to step on the clutch and graze that wide brake pedal instead? haha I did that once in my moms car. Locked the tires up at 55 mph. haha

Yeah. Definitely a neck jerker! Surprises the shit out of you too as you don't even expect it. While I was learning to left foot brake with the cars at Rally Ready Rally Cross driving school, that happened a few times. Being foreign to left foot clutch and braking. I could handle the braking only, but once the clutch was thrown back into it, my left foot brain was just like "smash all the pedals!" Well with my newly aquired driving skills, and anxiousness to reimplement that curriculum while daily driving, there were some mental cross connects which would fire at precisely the wrong time. Creating quite a few face to steering wheel moments.... Had to have scared the surrounding drivers. Lol

Had some mini brain farts last night whilst driving the wifes crv. Left foot kept screaming that I'm not using it enough, everytime I came to a stop or rpms would start coming.

Rob and I have put in some work, on the valve spring swap, over these past few days. New valve seals on all valves, cleaned up one valve which had some burnt oil on it. Swapped all of the springs over, and checked the clearances for the lash.

Here are the 1GR valve lash specs. Hastily written, and compliments of Rob.

    And my cheat sheet scribbles.

Those numbers signify a change of two even numbers, as labeled in the bucket shims. Example. One of the buckets has a #40 on the underside. Going to a #36 would then be a two # change, and net me that much of a tolerance change. #40 bucket being .2252" thick, and a #36 bucket being .2236" thick.

OEM swapped into the ex Goldylocks head.

Dual springs swapped into the original head which came with the truck.

These intake ports have a very poor porting job from the factory.

Current bucket designation on the left. Needed on the right. Minus some possible wear, these were all installed at the loose end of the tolerance spectrum.

Finished that head last night. Played musical chairs with the buckets to get most of them right where I needed the lash. Those numbers in the above picture were all at the tightest possible tolerance.

Since my feeler gauge only has increments of .010", .012", .014", and .016", I swapped out the exhaust buckets until I was at a snug .012" Closer to minimum tolerance and maximum lift. More turbo spool!:woot:

For the valve on furthest left, I had no bucket that high in #. So I scrounged around the other heads for one which originally came with a #36 bucket. (Lower bucket number equals thinner bucket, which equates to a taller valve.) Pulled it out, measured the differences, swapped it in & checked it. I ended up with a #37 bucket in that location, after all of that work. Instead of having to go and ordering numbers 46-48.

One head completely finished and ready to go.
