Craving more steaks!!! After the ones which I cooked over Christmas weekend.

 

Hey dude, Where did you get your steering knuckles shortened? I just picked up a spare set to get chopped. Did you run into any issues afterwards?

Oh yeah. Missed this earlier. I took them to PowerFab to do so. If I were to do it today, I have Kozmic do them. I made sure that the fabricator took out 1 inch, and prior to welding that he pre-heated the area to be welded. I know I have the exact amount cut out, with the originally posted pictures.

I have had not one issue with it. Not with my wheel and tire combo. 275/40 R20. On a 20x9.5" w/ +19mm offset.

Head gaskets ordered, from Cometic. 97mm x .036" thick. So a half millimeter over the current bore, and since the machinist said that .006" was removed during the decking, this will get me right close to maintaining my 9.0:1 compression. It will be a just a smidge lower. Since .027" is factory thickness. Nothing that a little extra boost and liter size won't make up for.

 

We need to bring a grill out to msr. Steaks and racing

A few months ago I caught up from the beginning to what was at that time the most recent development, but then life took over and I forgot about this thread.

 

Pulled the driver side head down from the attic last night. The head from the truck's original and hydro-locked engine. Pulled all of the valves and springs out and thoroughly inspected it. That Valve Master tool is absolutely terrific to have.

In the pictures, you'll notice an area near one the top right intake valve. There was some slight damage done when the valve bent and hit the edge of the combustion chamber.





I cleaned that up as best that I could, in preparation to drop off at the machinist today. I removed a couple loose fragments, and very carefully filed the area by hand.

Going to have them go over the surface just to clean to up, at it isn't warped.
