So what do you think the issue is? Just the oil temp causing stiffness/softness? I haven't really had a chance to crawl up under the dash and look for any play, since I work every night for next month lol. But like I said, I'll keep driving and see what it turns in to. Even the drive back home this morning the 2" free play felt alot stiffer. No where near stock clutch stiffness, but it didn't feel like when i first picked it up and it just felt loose for 2".

Not sure. With the single disk SPEC Clutch, T56, and GM TOB it would always be consistent. The McLeod TOB was consistent. I cannot say why this one changes.

In other news. Got a picture of the machined head, which I recently dropped off. Perfect!

It was running great until I tore apart my brakes, made an adapter plate to mount a willwood master to the stock brake booster, still need to plumb new lines. Have all the lines and fittings, need time to finish the job.

Is this for your front and rear brakes? I cannot remember correctly, but think you have an automatic transmission?

Yep, the plan is to bypass the ABS unit and run straight from the MC to the calipers with a splitter for the front and into a proportioning valve to a splitter for the rears.

I am not sure how that will work without the brake booster. What I can offer, is to test drive it with the brake booster/Wilwood setup. With the vacuum hose attached and then blocked off. To give you an idea of how the brakes react to imput.

When I was troubleshooting an issue, I removed the booster vacuum hose. Within less than a mile, the force necessary to stop was unbelievably high! Had to turn back around and re-install that hose immediately, lest I wanted to flirt with a wreck.

Keep that in mind as you go through the process. As I am interested in the adjustable proportioning valve as well.

That's exactly what I was going to try before deciding on whether to eliminate the booster completely. The MC I chose is supposed to be able to be used either boosted or not, depending on brake pedal ratio. There is room in the bay with the MC on the booster, so there is really no reason to remove it other than to clean it up a bit.

A few more updates. Up to my ears in wrenching on vehicle projects right now. Started the process of swapping the dual valve springs and retainers, out of the driver side head that came with Goldylocks, into the head which was recently machined. It had been sitting idle for a few days since I picked it up.

Installed all new OEM valve seals on this one as like, like the other head. A lot of brake clean and compressed air was necessary to remove all of the left over machining shavings, from all of the oraphaces in the head.

There is a close up up the seal installed. I added a little oil into each seal prior to installation. Some of the valves, in the upper picture, were replaced with newer OEM valves. Due to cleanliness and less mileage.

Such as these filthy intake valves from cylinder #4, and the bent intake valves from cylinder #6.

All of the exhaust and a couple intake valves installed, with a thin coat of oil prior to being inserted through the guide and seal.

I have all of the exhaust valve springs installed, but no pictures as of yet. Stopped by and spoke with the machinist yesterday as well. Despite dragging on, there were a few things which we had to discuss to overcome. One being the rear main cap.

This probably has been asked many times already. But how much power can a stock 4.0 handle?

I think the consensus I've figured out in my head is right around 400 hp before you start needing to look into upgraded internals?

Pretty much 400 whp with a turbo. + or - a little. With the proper turbo exhaust routing design, wtq will be between 450 and 475, when at 400 whp. That is the kicker right there. Don't raise the rev limiter on the stock engine, keep the AFR's in the high 10's to low 11's, and keep the timing conservative. Then it'll last a very long time even at that level. Roughly 8 psi on a properly sized turbo configuration.

Easiest safe build is rods, pistons, and Cometic head gaskets. Good for between 500 - 600.
