    Wish they made one for the 5VZ :pout:. That cast crank has me worried and a $90 Denso part is probably inferior to the OEM.

    Denso is an OEM supplier.

    Your crank will be fine. Just don't push the rev limiter and your rods will thank you. Dorman part doesn't look bad, but that is only me going off of a picture.

    If your pulley is coming apart, best to replace it.

    What will the damper do for a truck with header back exhaust and intake. Or will it not do anything at all??:confused:

    It dampens torsional vibrations. It works regardless. The "improvements" might be noticed more so on a highly modified engine.

    OEM pulley provides dampening to keep the harmonic vibrations from weakening your crank which can ultimately cause it to fail. The light weight pulleys generally don't provide and dampening effect and you sacrifice engine longevity for a smidgen of performance.

    ATI and other performance dampeners are generally a "best of both worlds" in that they are generally lighter than OEM but also provide a better dampening effect. I'm not sure how companies such as ATI accomplish it but I think they use some kind of internal fluid that balances the pulley much like beads can balance a tire when rotating fast enough (not exactly sure)? I think OEM balancers just use a very heavy pulley to absorb the vibrations. Tor might be able to help out more in this department though.

    I know I don't need a "performance" balancer, but man do I want one. I'm sure the Dorman is ok, I just hope its been balanced IAW OEM specs, that's all.

    TBH, I didn't get the alu one they sell for the 5VZ for this reason but Ive seen people run them for a long time with no issues :notsure:. Would I change it out? Yeah, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The ATI one is $350 which isn't bad but not cheap either.
