haha I know what you mean when a boosted tubing transition decides it's had enough ;)
We actually blew a fuel pump fuse that weekend as well, that was a little more of "oh SH*& what the hell is that" at 160 down the straight. The car is a princess if you ask me but it's all worth it when you get on the track.

Yea, we've run the evo the last few years with NASA in the TTU class. Had fun but really just enjoyed driving it more than "racing" or time attacking. Now we primarily just hit track days and enjoy flogging it all day not worried about time or other cars times, just about who can run the cleaner lap :) Road America in Elkhart Lake is an awesome track, It is where those pictures were taken.

We are pushing roughly 500 at the wheels on DB-Perfs AWD dyno, which is not a dynojet. We keep our HP down (relative to what we could be running with our setup) since we aren't dragging the car, but running it WOT for hundreds of miles around a track. Basically we just want it to keep running as long as possible, and 500 at the wheel is a very nice number in that car for road track driving.

I'll see what I can do for pictures.

These are the only other pictures of the evo worth posting for ya Torspd. No more from me, this is tacomaworld after all :)

The heat wrap on our wastegate downpipe unraveled and melted the coupler and then it was only a matter of time before it blew through...

Sometimes boost is a pain in the ass!

Looking forward to watching your build Torspd!

Thanks for the pics Sconnie! Got my interest peaked with that tank in the trunk. Is that your guys surge tank? If so, what brand is that?

Going to need something since I plan on doing the Texas Mile next year, so still taking ideas.

Not much of a drag racing person myself. Puts a lot of stress on expensive components, and I am sure you know what I mean. Besides, my build is for road course anyway. :D

And after watching 1GRracer, in his 4Runner ^_^ , and my ex-girlfriend, in her Genesis 2.0T, at MSR Houston, I cannot hardly wait to take mine out there.

The trunk tank is our reservoir tank, it's by ARE. The sump system is by AP-Tuning (http://www.ap-tuning.co.uk/EvoDrySump.html). The ARE products are second to none IMO, everyone who runs dry sump at the track runs ARE tanks, from high end vettes to our little four banger ( by the way there is nothing better than rippn past a vette down the straight and eating their bumper in the corners in our cereal box car :D)

Glad to hear your into road track driving, such an awesome time and it isn't over in a 10 second pass!

We have had awesome luck with Hankook ventus tires, they are cheaper than the super stickey hoosiers and still perform extremely well for how many heat cycles we can get out of them, Toyo proxes ra-1 are next in line for good tires on our evo that last forever.

Also we have had great results with the amsoil 10w40 zinc formula stuff as long as your cats are gone, otherwise the zinc will not go well with your cats...

If you tune for e85 make sure you have a tester because in the winter they switch to e70 ish and you will need a different tune for that if you run it hard.

Below is a link to a traqmate video from last year at RA (dad is driving this lap, his foot is a bit lighter than mine, but we still ran a quick 2:30 lap, goes to show its all in the smooth hands and corners!). The car is up 75 hp and regeared from 4.3 something i think to 4.0 this year, so it no longer hits 140 at 7k rpm like in the video, this year we were about 160 at 6500 rpm, much better shift points too... We also went to a full JRZ two way adjustable suspension which was the best investment we ever made! suspension and brakes are the first thing you should address, anti-horsepower is your friend in road coarse driving! then go hell bent on HP :) Enough of the long winded response. Any other system details you want Torspd, just PM me!

In my built engine I use the Redline 10w-40 then add in their ZDDP to desired level. Basically the same as what you guys are running. A friend of mine, Lucario Runner has gotten me interested in trying Sustania oil. We'll see how that goes come built engine time. He informed me that www.extremepsi.com carries it.

Did some looking on www.AeromotiveInc.com and found am really enticed by their Stealth fuel tanks. It comes complete with the pump capable of the power output I am striving for, as well it has a baffle system to prevent fuel starvation in the turns. Having an internal debate between getting the 6 gallon versus the 20 gallon, and just getting rid of the factory tank. Strangely there is only a couple hundred dollar difference between the two sizes.

Suspension wise, got the rear pretty much figured out. The front though, still trying to figure out the proper coilover setup. Also still need to buy the Icon billet aluminum adjustable UCA's.

My :spy: is spying on your spy. :spy:

Oh, and for the time we were there, the Texas Mile was awesome!

Yea six gal would be rough, not sure how you would set that up in tandem with the factory tank. track driving you probably wont get much better than 4 mpg :D It's crazy looking down at the needle and going holy Sh*! wher'd all the gas go...!

Suspension is always hard to figure out when you are entering ground not many people have gone before. Expect lots of trial and error as you tune it to feel perfect for you. There is a really good book on suspension setup, i'll see if i can find the title somewhere.

I think my truck did maybe 6 mpg overall that day. Though I was more concerned with lap times then mpg. I cannot wait to have another truck race with me at MSR.

Read this thread in about two days. All i can say is wow. After i get my career going i plan on getting a front mount turbo on my future tacoma and lift it :D also all this track talk is getting me excited, in the future i also plan on building a track car/dd and i feel like a built b20 integra turbo along with forged pistons/rods and arp head studs would work real nice as both a dd and a track car but man those evos looks sweet too

Going back to the timeline of post #422 here > http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/203482-torspd-nevr-22.html

There weren't any mods until after Christmas. Then the modding was back on. :D

I had dropped off my FJ oil fill neck to the poweder coater, to get it in gloss black. The FJ fill neck is made from aluminum, versus the Tacoma one of plastic. I received all of these goodies on the 28th of Dec.'11.

    IMAG1324_0b8b9f386f399e37e9664db0a84135b176b03a32.jpg

Here is the thermostat housing. The black is suuuuch a better look than the dirty brown it used to be from all of the stains from mudding.

    IMAG1326_fedca257c8f09f20907cd61c48689b5c41df8a70.jpg

Lastly, is the T56 cross member. Coated in Jollipop Blue. Came out so much better than I had imagined. I also used it as a test piece, to see if I liked the color. Since I was really wanting to do the valve covers in a blue color. After seeing how it turned out, I was sold on PCing the covers the same way.

    IMAG1327_d6ed3c023bf26df6d47fd84abd2106c9e6ee1318.jpg

    IMAG1329_e659e45e86cb4d8f04d2ef5a3215fdaa517879d7.jpg

And not to forget, was the Sparco shift nob from my girlfriend. I had to have the Sparco shift ball in hand first, before I could order the MGW shifter for my T56.

    IMAG1320_49d042b7cad1f74662b36273d9863e3068fcdfda.jpg

MGW offers two shifter handles with differing diameters for different sized shift balls. With the Sparco, I could measure its I.D. and the select which option for the shifter. It was the 12mmX 1.75 pitch that ended up being the proper choice.

Come the 10th of January '12, my sweet shifter had arrived, from MGW.

A point to add about this shifter, is that it is a short throw shifter, in reference to the 98-04 Camaro's. At this point, I wasn't sure how much that would affect the it fiting in my truck, with the swap kit, but honestly I didn't care. I had a Fvcking T56 going in!!!!
