    A turbo sized for quick spool would be, if doing long runs, because you can cool the intake charge more efficiently for a longer period of time. Preventing heat saturation which then reduces power.

    The potential failing point would be a header or so cracking. Due to the jumping. So careful execution and support would be absolutely necessary to maintain strength. Do not be to set aback by that comment. Look at @MadTaco461 with his turbo offroad mini trophy truck setup. His performs well and withstands the abuse.

    Roots s/c are simple but will heat saturate, during extended pulls. Especially, as the boost turns up to 8-10 psi. That is their down fall.

    Centrifical are like the turbo, and have been used on a few videos that I have seen of off road prerunners and FJ's. Just less complex in contruction, and taking cues from both the roots and turbo. They just lack the higher torque output of turbos, and have the hp rob from being belt driven.

    The thing that will be critical is cooling. Oil, water, and boost cooling. (Trans too.) The super charger route is simpler but the trd system isn't that effective for long sints. Turbo, if you chose good quality metals will handle the shock and heat that goes with your application. Plus you could do a co2 or water spray on the intercooler or meth injection.

    @nfs257 you might even want to consider a small chevy block v8 with transmission. The cost adds up pretty darn close to a motor swap. Plus a v8 in your rig would sound cool.

    Need some advice amigo, looks like I have a blown head gasket so my truck is going into a shop tomorrow to confirm and repair. Hoping it's not too bad I've never seen a temp over 200, just seeing bubbles in the coolant resi and having coolant overflow spew under the hood. Both heads will be pulled and checked and valve seats done. With all of your experience with the 4.0's ( I'm at 140k ) do you have any suggestions for other items I should check out or just go ahead and replace ?

    I already bought a new tensioner and the 3 idler pulleys to do those at the same time because I have a squeeling pulley occasionally.

    I'm going to have them check the water pump and thermostat...any other suggestions for preventative maintenance ?
