so im waiting on the master cylinder to show up they are back ordered as soon as i get it in ill be making the adapter.

 

I am just about to drop the transmission again. This will be good timing.

 

I'm not caught up. why the drop, and what makes it good timing?

 

The truck will already in a re-construction phase. Although, with the new bleed fitting for the clutch, that has now become fun instead of a chore.

Dropping the transmission again, to pull the clutch. Had it get semi saturated with brake fluid a few months ago. Despite my attempts to send it out, something kept taking precedence with the DD Subi.

Most recently, both of the head gaskets let go. All of the brilliance of the previous owner, finally vaporized. I.E. Head gasket stop leak.

I have a punch list of little things to upgrade, this time around. Longer submersible fuel line, engine mounts, and maybe just maybe the rear disk conversion.

@HomerTaco . What made it much easy for me, was removing the headers, y-pipe, and starter.

Disconnected the transmission from the cross member. Un-bolted the frame to engine mount bolts, used a transmission jack to raise the engine and trans simultaneously. Then un-bolted the mount to block.

The new mounts are more stream lined in design, and easier to fit tools between. Major plus. Here are the tools to make my life easy.














Total swap was about 2 hours. Doesnt include re-installing the exhaust, since I had to pull the clutch. Which was an additional hour. Not to bad a job, with those parts remove. Ratchet wrenches are a must though. ***** One other note! I added shorter bolts, from the frame to mount. As the original would create a tool interference issue, with the through bolts.*****

As for weight, the new solid mounts were 8 pounds combined.
Whereas the OEM are 12 pounds, as shown below.

 

Yup. High on my list of shit to do. Also just pulled the trigger on 4.56 gears, so that's pretty much #1 on the list, followed by motor mounts and headers.

Lookin' good though! I'm diggin' that transmission crossmember! Gonna probably end up having to build myself one since apparently no one wants to do the R&D for a 6speed 4x4 crossmember lol.

@Torspd or anyone for that matter .. I'm ordering a new clutch today, prefer LCE, OEM, URD? Other brand?

 

Not OEM. Not Competition Clutch brand either. The rest will be good. URD has a host of the brands.

You also have Centerforce, and Exedy brands. Just depends on the torque level you need it to handle. As well as abuse you plan to feed it.

 

so i got the master cylinder in yesterday taking it over to my friends so we can start the process.

Ordered 4.88s and a rear locker. Guess Ill be getting up to 80MPH pretty fast and then high rpms probably with 33s lol

 

Got that bad boy shipped out yesterday.

 

Time for 35's. Kill two birds with one stone. Meshes with the gear ratios better, and fills the wheel well better.

Then another two birds - more cushion for the jumps, and sidewall for crawling the humps.

 

Nah, I'm gonna stick with the 295s for now until at least a little tread is gone lol, barely 10k on them, and then bumo up to 35s. I think the 295s and 4.88s will be a flippin blast out in Pismo. But yeah, after talking with a couple guys that are running 35s and 4.88s I said F it, I go to fast anyways, that'll keep me under 80 for now , and then when its time for 35s it'll still be a great gearset

 

I only drive 80 tops as well. KPH.

 

Did I mentionthat the Haltech Elite controls the throttle body? It completely removes the factory ecu from using it to govern top speed. There is a chance that I may even hit 88....
