If you're going through the trouble, get oversized valves. Inconel. Titanium, however awesome, is too much a princess. Must be coated. Longevity with inconel will be better suited to DD miles.

Next, is which other engine have the same valves which make for a quicker turn around time.

Then there comes the head gasket. Easiest to stick with OEM, but you could upgrade to Cometic or JE, but then there is that turnaround for new ones to be made.

How much time do you have, and what is your budget?

I am not going to tell anyone not to forge a path. That'd be against my mantra. Just lay out your plan and time frames.

Thanks for your response. I am retired so time is not an issue as it is just one of my hobbies. The budget is also not an issue since I paid cash for my truck and my wife's suv last year. My house and condo on the ocean are both paid for also. The problem is my wife. We have an agreement that if either one of us buys something that the other thinks is a waste then the other gets to spend the same amount on what they want and she is a pack rat that saves everything. Since the number one cause of divorce is money, this is why we have stayed married for 41 years and that is my marriage counseling lesson for the day.

Now back to what I was asking. Where did you get your head work done? What other mods did you have done on your 2 built engines? How much difference did you notice with your aluminum drive shaft?

 

So after 12 hours of installing URD Headers I'm never doing that shit again
But the results are so worth it

The mods for the two engine......all of them.

The aluminum D.S. was due to strength requirements. As it is a thicker tubing than the steel one that I had. It is also lighter, so I am sure that there was a "noticeable" difference. However, I had also installed a T56 transmission at the same time.

The set that is on, yes. Except when I delivered the engine to Justice Racing Engines, the did the work to install the oversized valves.

They are no longer in business though, hence why I did not mention them.

H Squared Racing engines also has done some head work for me. They are in Houston. They also repaired and assembled the 4.3L short block, which I have in there now.

 

How was the work? What did they do for you? Any pics of the work? You know.. recon purposes and such

Definitely. Especially since they are in your backyard.

 

LCE did the porting job. Had I had the money at the time, I'd have had them do the oversized valves as well. They did install new dual springswith Ti retainers.

If you are building yours to handle towards 1k hp, ask them if the feel that the head studs diameter should be increased.
