Someone's getting something for Christmas.

 

The Epic continues. This day is the first time that I have posted a picture of the proof-of-concept turbo header. Its inspiration came from a day when I was spectating at The Texas Mile. I saw a Chevy truck with a turbo kit, still using the factory header. It solved my issue for packaging, and simplicity. Not the prettiest, but again, it was a proof of concept. With which the later PowerFab designs were evolved from. Myself and their fabricator spent quite a few hours discussing and theorizing how to improve upon it. The end product is was @RedLantern and @Hacktacular both have on their trucks.

What you see below, is post 4" straight piece cut out. To lower the flange.





Not welded. Just tac'd. This will allow the merge collector to be lowered and modified to fit the larger Borg Warner snail to finally fit.

 

This header project gives me the time to practice honing my skills, before I dive into making the planned header, in the upcoming months.

 

For the past few weeks, I have been hearing a little rattle. Until yesterday when it was a few 32oz cans bouncing around under the truck.... The good old bang test narrowed it down.

 

Couldn't have happened at a better time. Really. Perfect time crank up the welder.

Few minutes later, and good as new.

 

So many LSx turbo projects use this method of their stock manifolds. with what i know now, i wish i had the circumstances to make some of my own. Tor, i DARE you to make it a forward facing twin turbo setup

Taking more care with it, than the cat can. Lol. I would have worked on the header tonight, had I not been distracted by that exhaust work.

Should have the time to tack some more pieces together tomorrow.


I will mention this though. That cat must have been bad for a while. More than a few weeks. The first test drive and the truck pulled much more quickly, even with a little throttle input. I was surprised at the difference

 

You can have them when I go to long tubes

To mirror my header in the picture above, for the driver side, would be the easiest way to fabricate a twin turbo setup. On the "cheap", considering what all is involved.
