    These pre-production*** Spec-U headers were not completely "bolt-on".

    Didn't have to jack the engine on for the passenger side. Just remove the rear two head - headers studs, like we did on the driver side. Passenger side went on like a champ.

    Driver side had to remove the steering linkage, like you know, but got it all properly back together.

    Had to drill out the hole for the transmission - header bracket, on the header flange. Header- Ypipe flange.

    As well as some of the driver side bracket had to cut out to fit properly when bolted to the header flange.

    Once that was all done, it was all good. Sounds great, and Lucario Runner says it picks up easier than before with the DTLT's.

    You think it was a warping issue when they took the headers off the jig, or was the hole for the transmission mount actually drilled in the wrong place?

    It is actually exactly the same as how the DTLT's with the driver side mount. The header's bracket hole is offset from the hole on the bracket. Which created the crack at the collector flange, which you saw last night.

    So Dremel'd out the ID of the bracket hole, so that when tightened down, it doesn't put the header in a bind. I had to do this on my 1st Gen DTLT's as well.

    I forgot to mention earlier, I had to drill out one of the driver side header to Y-Pipe flange holes. They didn't line up, even when everything thing was still loose. Had to be done.

    ^some of that thanks to the kindness of Colin.
    as for the bind really the issue is with doug thorley as these brackets line up fine on oem manifolds. The driver side was in such a bind that it both caused a small crack on the welds at the flange making a exhaust leak at the y pipe connection AND at the last cylinder as shown on the gasket.

    The count down to MSR Houston, on November 30, has begun.

    Trying to knock out some mods before then. One, is finally complete, minus lower supports.

    The External Engine Oil Cooler. :woot:

    This is the best place I could find to mount the 1/8" thick aluminum angle. Due to the height of the cooler and the thickness. There are some holes in the sub-frame which I used with 10mm bolts.

    Trimmed the shield so that in case I need to rotate the sandwich plate in the future, I will have the ability.

    Maybe I am wrong here but I thought these had a factory oil cooler on them. I see the reason for going to a bigger one but if we had an oem one couldnt you have just used those oem ports for the lines rather than fabbing something up at the oil filter?

    Only if you ordered the tow package, or purchased it later. It is a water cooled cooler.

    You cannot do like you asked because the oil doesn't go through the ports. Coolant is pumped through and the oil passes over heat sink fins internally. So oil would never be able to flow to an external cooler.

    The adaptor I have is specifically for EOC use. It is also thermostatically controlled.
