Neither is stronger than the other, really the only difference is looks. The tube lowers have kind of an "old school" look to them and the boxed would be "new hotness". Other than that it's going to perform the same:)

Will a +2 LT Kit for a 3rd gen Tacoma work on a 2nd gen Tacoma? Or are the Lower Control Arms different?

I believe the only difference is the rear cam bolt is larger on the 3rd gen vs the 2nd. So all you should have to do is purchase the correct bushings and inner sleeves. Everything else is exactly the same. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Good stuff here! Question, has anyone asked about the scrub radius? What wheel offset should we use to maintain good IFS geometry? I’m looking at 35” tires on 17x8.5 0 offset along with the Expedition +2 kit.

    cheers

What sort of offset and backspacing is needed for the +2?

I am currently running 315s on 17" x 8", -10mm offset, and 4.1" backspacing with stock lca and aftermarket uca and kings shocks. It's currently about as wide as I want it to be (a little bit past fenders) and has backspacing to spare.

So I was thinking of going with skinnier 35's and 0 or negative offset rims to counteract the 2" from the long travel.

    Hi XCaldazar,

My spindles clear with TC gussets and I'm on 35x12.5x17 zero offset. I think the space is tighter w/ the gusseted spindles, so I can vouch for 0 offset. Before I bought the wheels/tires, I checked in w/ TC and they said the +2 kit is designed around that tire and wheel combination.

    HTH,
    Mike

I appreciate the info. I just got the spindles gusseted today, so I will double check what sort of spacing I have available now. Possibly less than I anticipated with my current setup

Just spoke with TC. I strongly suggest calling them with your specific combo, they are very nice and explained many things to me.

I have the regular +2 LT with 315/70R17 and the Sway-bar compatible gussets; the suggested wheel is 7x8.5" with 4.75" backspacing (0 offset) or less. Rubbing is still expected without tubbing and other modifications. Remove coilovers and cycle suspension while rotating the steering wheel to find all the sledge hammer targets.
