This was also my first trail on my Tacoma when it was stock. I've since gotten 235 85 R16 AT Tires and a 2.5" lift and did the gray wire mod.

So I went for a clean up run today at a local spot called the lost forest, there's a wide variety of trails in there varying from easy FSR roads to a trail called "fucked" the guys I was with were well aware of my newbness and the fact I've only had my truck a month lol , so off we went first we did the lake side run which was easy until we got to this ravine with a run off creek crossing ad the bottom, took 3 tries to get up and I killed my front mud flap but my truck got it done in 4lo and i took a good run at it

going back my length made getting back down the hill I had to take the steeper line instead of the one I came up cause there were some rocks that were going to push me into the bank, the hill kissed the frame, but no damage or even paint went missing (only dirt no rocks on this line) it did make some poo come out but I just went slow and it was fine

after lunch we wanted to head to the upper lake again the trail was pretty easy some rocks but nothing crazy until we got to the end of the trail, in order to get up to the top I had to climb up a couple rock shelves, and then cut hard right across the trail from the left side, or lose my rockers did I mention I was doing all this with the stock dunlops? anyways here's the view from the top

this pic doesn't do the drop justice mos of the way down I was way off camber and teetering which is something I'm not used to again slow and steady doesn't damage your truck no pics after this though :(

on the way down we diverted to another trail which again was easy except for the 3 run off river crossings, which required trying to spot huge rocks and dips underwater, we agreed this was probably to much for my stock truck so everyone went slow and helped me though I basically followed my buddies jeep cause he has less clearance than I do so the theory was if he smashed up his jeep we would find another line, no pics here either too busy squeezing my cheeks together again 4lo and slow won the day, just gotta get away from the habit of clutching in all the time

I killed the other mud flap backing up off a log at the end of the creek, wacked a couple rocks, with the factory skids but that's why they're there ;)

great day pulling the trigger on upgrades asap lol

Wheeled mostly greens and some blues at Rausch stock, aside from tires:

I'm still relatively stock, no lift minus some shackles, and only armor are sliders. I went back to Rausch Creek and did more greens and blues with no issues.

It was also my first time really going off road with my Tacoma. Made it all the way to the end with no troubles. However, on the way back, first obstacle on the way back I might add, I didn't line up correctly and the rear tires dropped off a rock and caused some minor body damage. I have since installed rock sliders ;) Then I make all the back up to the trail head, and thanks to not paying attention I dropped the front passenger wheel over a small log, no big deal. That is until I tried to back up to avoid taking the whole truck over it, and ripped the mud flap off. I have since removed them all. In end, it was a great trip. :)

A few years back. The McGrew Trail on the Oregon and California border. Was the toughest trail I did in my stock truck. I went up by myself in my new truck with no problems. The problem was the next weekend. Went up in a buddies jeep. No problems until we went farther on the trail than I went in my truck. Went down a steep hill into a canyon that went to a river. The trail turned into a quad trail. Im thinking to myself how are we going to make it back up this steep hill and why I didnt grab my recovery gear in my truck. We are at the bottom went through a mud hole just fine then turned around to go back. Got stuck the second time going through the mud hole. Had to walk out 20+ miles all night long. In and out of cell service. Luckily I knew the dirt roads to make it to pavement from the weekend before. Just as the sun came up we hit pavement and out of luck my buddies dad and brother met us there after looking for us all night. Went to grab my truck and recovery gear. Took my truck in as far as possible and walked back down the jeep. Tried getting out of the mud using my hi-lift as a winch. I was really concerned it wasnt gonna work. Fnally it did just before it got dark again. I let my buddy keep the high-Lift and the winch kit for the high-Lift. Then after all this hiking and staying up all night I had to go hike for work the next day.

Awesome pictures. I want to do this in the worst way!

I still haven't done anything extreme. Back when I was stock, about the most extreme was a lot near my house and that was only because of holes and ruts. Unfortunately no pictures.

The only thing that I have pictures from in stock are Appalachicola National Forest in North Florida.

I've also been out there in a stock Jeep Grand Cherokee, Kia Sorento and Subaru Forrester.

Also, some non-paved roads in Sugar Grove, NC.

No cool stories to accompany any of the pictures.

Old Croydon Tpke in western New Hampshire. It's 8-9 miles and takes 2 hours now that part of the road has been fixed up by loggers. There are a few ledge spots and some mud holes. Lots of places where tire placement is key so rocks don't hit important bits under the truck. Trail gets narrow in a couple spots. I have done it completely stock with the original dunflops. Found out that in the mud 4h is better than 4l with the dunflops, and now that I have skids from the front back to the t-case I hit more. They decrease clearance a little but that doesn't matter really. Pictures never really seem to do this stuff justice, but it really isn't that difficult other than looking out for rocks that want to eat the underside of your truck. It does get trickier when you throw in winter ice and snow.

Some awesome pictures in this thread. Want to see some of these places some day.
