Tow package wiring harness

    want to install a wiring harness for a use of a electric brake controller ...if i remember right the harness comes from engine compartment to under the dash ....mine did not come with the tow package .....so Im trying to do this less painful without cutting or splicing wires those days are gone ...

    What year and trim is your truck? If you don't have the factory tow package, you might be stuck with splicing into factory wiring.

    The pigtail connector for the brake controller (if you have it) would be behind the driver side kick panel.

    Should look something like this (the one in this photo has a controller plugged into it, so you’re looking for just the left half back behind there)

    If your truck doesn't have the tow package then the appropriate parts and wire will need to be bought. I suggest you check out etrailer.com for information. If you do it right there will only be one splice needed (to the brake light circuit). Everything else will be added.
