Is towing 3,800 lbs trailer difficult? GVWR would be about 5,400 lbs. Is it unreasonable for a 2012 double cab long bed? Of course will have break controller and wdh. Any one have some input or experience or advise?

You should be fine. I tow a Jayco X213 that weighs in around 4,300 dry with no problems. GVWR is 5,500 but we haven't had it over 5,000 lbs. I tow it in the Sierras and can keep the speed at or above 55mph going over the passes. Ultra gauge shows the trans gets a little warm on the longer passes but it hasn't gone over 230f on me yet.

What kind of elevation gain are yall experiencing? I'm thinking about one of the single axle jayco campers, about 2700lb dry. I'll be climbing about 7000 ft over 200 miles from Phoenix to the white Mountains. I've towed campers before but first time with the smaller truck.

@Lord Humongous, I live at 4500ft and Donner Pass is just over 7k ft...I go over that on my way to/from the coast. Coming back the elevation gain is at least 6500ft in 200 miles.
