They will run forever assuming the frame doesn't corrode and break! Man, I just was notified of the bad frame problem. Although they are being proactive I still feel screwed and probably won't get another Taco.

To be honest - I’m not a truck guy. Everyone still says "It doesn’t look like you!" cause ive driven hot rods my whole life. BUT my first word i could ever read was TOYOTA because it was on the back of an 80s Toyota truck when i was in my parent's Mercedes 240D. ever since then, as a kid, i ALWAYS wanted a Toyota truck. I had a dream about getting a dog, having her in the back and driving somewhere in my Toyota truck. Since then, Toyota always developed a gorgeous truck. It was inevitable for me to end up getting one. BUT if it wasn’t for the Tacoma, i wouldn’t even own a truck.. I’d probably have a WRX.. BUT to answer the question – I’m BOTH. A HUGE Toyota fan, and a massive Toyota Truck (Tacoma) fan.

Fan of both. I have driven Toyotas for 20 years now. The Tacoma has the right size, style, performance and dependability for me. If there were no Tacoma, I would look at other Toyota trucks, then probably Nissan. After that, I would be left with the Big 3 or the really ugly Honda.

Here is a list of my Toyotas and the problems they had. I did not count routine maintenance.

83 Corrolla (replaced fuse box @165k)
91 Camry DX (replaced 2 mufflers and water pump)
99 Camry LE V6 (replaced charcoal canister)
    00 Tacoma SR5 (2.4L)
    08 Rav4 Limited (2.4L)
08 Tacoma DC TRD OR 4X4

I have liked the looks of all of them, and they have all been very reliable.

I have always loved Toyota Trucks. I believe in getting what you pay for, and Tacomas run forever. I had a Mazda once, turns out the heads were not any good. Went and got a used Toyota Pickup (93) ran it until this year. When I traded it, it still ran perfect. I just wanted a DC. For me in cars for my wife, as long as it is Toyota or Honda, I am ok. No American stuff, not that I wished different, just want to get my moneys worth.

Toyota fan, if not a Tacoma a 4Runner would be in my driveway or I would have built an old school FJ. Been driving Toyotas since 1982 and will drive them till I die.

Good point! However, I just said I probably would not get another Taco but an FJ Cruiser may be in my near future. Truthfully, I wish I could find an older 4Runner in good condition. 92-95 range but living in the midwest they all look like Tow Mater. =)

I bought my first Tacoma this year and love it. I bought it because a friend has a 1999 and it just keeps going. So I decided to buy my own. I bought an 09 and pretty much bought it unseen but when I picked it up it was larger than my friends. I would not trade this truck in for anything but I would change a few things and I am getting a new radio as the factory one sucks. I debadged it and installed a new grill.

Yea well there was never a question of Toyota not being an excelent product period. It just goes to show that if you make a reliable afordable product, people like me and my wife wake up with Toyotas on their driveway... It seems like yesterday my wife was driving a 95 Maxima (great car), i was driving a 2001 Frontier crew cab at work (awesome truck) and an 06 350Z at play (bitching machine). And i never thought it would be different...Last year me and my wife went to trade in, i was going at the new Frontier and i was puting my wife in a G35 sedan.....Somehow we came home with these things

    TOYOTA FTW!

I currently have an '88 Supra (no Mkiv but still gets around) with about 250,xxx km on it and I love it. It has never treated me wrong so when I looked to getting my new vehicle it was going to be a toyota for sure.

I am not a fan of the newer toyota cars, however, I really like the 4-runner and FJ models.

For cars I would go with the Lexus rather than the Toyota. Dream car right now would be a Lexus LF-A

More realistic would be a nice '98 supra!

Toyotas are really reliable. Thats why they hold their value, so toyota makes good cars, their just not exciting...until the tacoma and Fj's came out. And like most of the guys on here, it was between the Tacoma and the Fj. I chose the Tacoma because it has a bed on it, and I love trucks. I couldn't imagine not having a bed, so I'll never own a car.

i'm a yota fan. Dad had a pre-taco pick-up, straight shift, 4x4 v6, and 300,000 miles on it when we sold it. Mom used to have an old corolla, has an 05 Sienna now, pretty awesome for a van. And I've got the taco. dad said he may get a tundra sometime. So toyota kinda runs in the house

I feel your pain....they're beat up and rusted out in the northeast too. Once in a blue moon you get lucky and stumble upon a "diamond in the rough". I got lucky when I found this 92, but it is in fact a southern 4runner.
