Hey I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers but maybe we should think of Toyota not saying anything because there is no need to! What would they have to gain by starting a fight in public over what they said or didn't say. Like them I would say nothing...it does nothing for me (as a company) to deny anything. Let it go and maybe it will go away quickly. Those are just my thoughts. I guess if you think about criminal defendants---why don't there lawyers say something in public...because there is nothing to be gained. Let's wait and get all the facts before judgement is passed. Until then I'm sticking with Toyota...their quality is excellent and right now they are beyond reproach....Just my opinion though....what do you guys think after reading this....

if i was the CEO of a company and a former employee leaked a bogus email, you better believe i would call that email fake.

however, some here will only believe the positive news about TM. Yes the Tacoma is a fine truck. Yes i still have mine. yes i will continue to drive it down the path that i laid out for it when i bought it. (150,000 miles). but i'm not going to be so blind to reliaze that TM is only in it for the profits or that they didn't soil there reputation with the gas pedal debacle.

Those companies all care about the same thing. Where have I said they didn't care about profits and share holder value?

But to say TM hasn't soiled there reputation over this is silly. Prior to this debacle, yes debacle, it was always quality and reliability. Quite frankly, i bought into this. If i was buying today vs. 5 years ago, you better believe, i wouldn't be looking at TM in the same light. That's not to say i wouldn't buy a TM, but i would defiantly give them a third or fourth thought, vs. the two that i gave it when buying my tacoma.

Hey Guys I don't think that's what 81Shark is telling us. He's simply saying, "What he knows now would cause him to be more cautious in buying a toyota than he was before!" I understand his caution as I use alot of caution when I buy anything that cost thousands and thousands of dollars. I'm sure you guys do too. But he's saying he would just be a little more cautious. Of course I am more cautious when I buy a car from anyone. If they found this stuff screwed up at toyota--what aren't the rest of them telling us? How's that old saying go..."you don't know-what you don't know!" Think about it.....

    no, i would buy a new camaro.:D

if i was in the truck market, yes, i would consider those. i would have to do some research to see what current issues are. back when i was buying, i would not touch a Dakota. i did consider a ranger. never really looked at the colorado.

    who is this Ray Lahood?

anyways, as the poster above said, i think you have to be more cautious. sorry if i'm not a fan boy with blinders on that lives and breaths toyota.

oh btw, did you see Lexus got a do not buy review today......

Ray LaHood runs the National Highway Safety Trans Agency (NHTSA--pronounced Nistsa) He is a republican appointed by Obama to run this agency.

He is responsible for fining TM the millions that are supposedly sent to toyota. He is responsible to see vehicles sold in america are safe and if not to make sure they get recalled or TB sent out. He is the big man when it comes to auto safety.

I don't think alot of folks on here wear blinders but are "very" product loyal to Toyota. Having owned a GMC and the family having owned S-10's I agree with the product loyalty part. My GMC was a pos. I've had my Tacoma for 15 years and she is still sweet...maybe I got lucky but I see alot of other stuff on here with some members who are still driving "95'S" like me. So something has to be right somewhere. When driving down the road I don't see alot (if any) of 95 model year Big Three automaker trucks equivalent to the Tacoma. I think they have something on the product loyalty thing. As with any major purchase research should be done prior to purchase..."buyer beware" is being preached at every corner you turn. But all n all I would trust the name brand toyota before I would the others. I have no experience with Mahindra or the other imports to compare with but when spending my money I've got to be safe and go to where I know what the quality is....recalls or not. I think you can understand there reasoning on Toyota---I do.

Change of subject...thanks for ruining my day about Lexus (LOL) I own a RX330 2005 model...what's wrong with Lexus....yikes...

Consumer Reports issued a do not buy, may roll over report on the GX460 Suv. They have only sold some 5K since it hit the market.

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Consu...html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=main&asset=&ccode=

I obviously agree that the Tacoma was the best bang for the buck truck. However, I'm not going to close my eyes to the fact that TM screwed up on the pedal issue, which in turn did soil there reputation.

I will now bid this thead a bon voyage

My standpoints: my favorite mythical creature is an honest politician.

Nothing is wrong with my truck, so long as I don't watch the news.

Nothing is wrong with the economy, so long as I don't watch the news.

Toyota has done nothing every company in the world hasn't done, so long as I don't watch the news.

I would bet Tiger Woods never got any arse, so long as I don't watch the news.

    .....see a pattern here?

That reminds me, I gotta not watch the news tonight.

Ps: How many politicians, news network execs, government officials, and CEO's does it take to change a lightbulb?

One of each: 3 to assure the public everything possible is being done, and the last to screw it into a water faucet.
