What's the point now? The shit storm has already occured. Can't back the truck up now.....

And like I said earlier.... If Chris would've never deleted my posts in the first place, I would've let it alone and there wouldn't be a shit storm.

The FRAM VS XXXX topic has been hashed out many times before. It's old, its oppininated, and gets ugly everytime. If someone wants to learn about filters, they can SEARCH and find plenty of information themselves.
What's the point of posting this topic anyway? To start a shit storm on purpose? Because you know its gonna happen.....

Oh wait.... but ya'll are allowed to make posts that aren't even related to the thread topic? Hmmm.... Mine get deleted but all the other non-topic crap stays here.
    Yeah...OK.....

i took apart a K&N Oil Filter the other day and was unimpressed, the filter media and drain back valve is just like fram's, but the bypass was nothing like either one of the ones you showed. IMHO not worth the $$$ ive been paying for them just to have a nut

Yeah...A shit storm will happen- specially with folks like you to intentionally make it happen.

Point of posting the topic is pretty clear if you had spent a minute reading it instead of just complaining. It shows that you can get a decent filter for less $$ than a Fram....

Seriously- Your first three posts weren't only off topic- They were an attempt to derail this thread from the start (as you admitted above.) That's just piss poor attitude coupled with an untenable position.

And if you want a great example of another topic that's hashed out, old, and ugly- Lets talk about just telling people to search.

I cautiously dip a humble foot into a puddle of brown liquid left from this shit storm...

What about the sponge media Toyota OEM filters? I have been using them for my oil changes since day one...

The ones on the left are the factory ones that I have been using. I bought a case online. Chris4x4, if you want to take this a step further, I will send you one in good faith to use and destroy.

Dealers are jerks, even though the beginning numbers are the same, those filters are two different part numbers. They 'strategically' cut off the last part of the part numbers on both filters. It's like comparing apples to elephants.

Thurs. is TG day, so Im not sure when I'll be able to get things video'ed. I will do it ASAP. :)

For all the folks wanting "scientific" data......Im working on it. Right now, all I can really test accurately, is weather or not the bypass valve will leak under moderate pressure. Im going to test the valve at 50 psi. If it leaks at that pressure, its crap. I cant test, accurately, flow, as that has way to many variables. So....For now, this comparo is going to be exactly that....A comparison of materials used, and you all can draw your own conclusions. Price (retail), sq. in. surface area of the media (which was confirmed to be an important thing in filters), Meadia material, and if the by pass valve leaks or not are going to be the main points.

I'll be looking forward to seeing Fram fail.... I mean I mean the results! Lol! I have said my peice on the rest of the shit storm, so no reason to say anymore. Again Thanks Chris for losing your time and money to show us this. I and I'm sure many others appreciate it.

I am curious to know what they pre lube the toyota filter with, because it looks kinda dry to me thru the clear plastic. I always pre-lube the Napa golds I use and they hold almost 3/4 quart in that tiny filter. Thats what I consider a pre lube.

Does toyota just put lube on the seal and threads or do they acctually soak that media with there toyota oil ??.

"Pre-lubed" on an oil filter is just the gasket and threads that is oiled. I know some people like to put oil in the filter before they install it, but I myself never found it necessary. And probably very hard to do atleast on the V6 cause its "upside down".

Toyota puts some sort of grease on the gasket. No lube on the threads. No need to put oil in the filter prior to installation.

I already tested the Fram (both) bypass valves, and they leaked. On top of that, but oil seeped past the valve with no pressure on it.

THe Toyota filter doesnt have the threads pre lubed. Its just the "O" ring.

That would be a bit difficult to do if the filter is "round side up",,lol.

To each his own on the oil loading of the filter, just something I have done for years on everything I own that has the filter round side down when mounted. My old Dodge D-50 2.6 (flame on) would really rattle the rockers and keep the oil light on for a bit after a change, it was a side mounted filter. Horribly designed motor, with the extra "jet" intake valves that failed.

The 5 quart jugs rock for the 2.7, I load the filter then just dump the rest in the motor,,done!!.

same here, i like to buy the "oil change" jugs, exactly 5.27 quarts, only .07 quarts more than what the 4.0L calls for, which is so minute...no measuring, simple, funnel and dump..easy as can be
