Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I use the stock size filters myself.

The Napa is made by wix. Wix also seems to make the amsoil filter but the amsoil one has a different kind of filter media which is synthetic rather than paper. OP does mention how hard it was to take apart the Napa artridge so that should be a good indication of build quality.

std WIX brand is all you need. no need to try and find anything better or find a better value. buy the WIX MP packs to save some $$. for tacoma i use a longer filter than the oem x-reference one, etc.

you mean like some auto store on Amzon selling knock-off WIX filters? that issue is usually a supply chain issue, not a retail issue. its not likley that one Auto-ABC shop that sells on amzon is doing $4mil/yr in WIX filter sales will seek out knock-off supply to pad their wallet. 1) there is no auto store selling that much, and 2) small shops are not seeking out knock-offs for oil filters. supply chains are where issues like this are, thus the retail folks have no clue. there are security measures taken to protect supply chains, and parent Co to WIX i am sure take it seriously.

so, you want it locally, then buy Napa Gold as mentioned. pretty much same plant line, different ink and box at the end.

But earlier it said that wix and Napa were the same... So couldn't I just drive to Napa and buy the filter?

so, i believe this is still true: Napa filters roll off WIX plant lines. the Napa Gold filter is a WIX filter with different ink/box.

the Napa filters are good, but if you want WIX locally then you need to buy the Napa Gold filter.

in other words, the std Napa filters may not match to any WIX filter, they just roll off the WIX line. the N Gold is a WIX # filter that gets rebranded at the end.

post #703 ?? sizing of a filter doesnt mean too much. beta #'s do, element type does, valving does, materials used does, etc.

i'd rather have a tiny filter with better beta than some filter 3x longer.

Napa gold is usually cheaper by about $1.50 or so than the Wix paint job,,same exact filter.

Don't get the Wix Racing,,you don't need or want that.

The Napa Gold is Wix auto and fleet, and yes, there are variables. Know what you want before you go in.
