They will not release the recalled vehicle's until they have the whole fix campaign planned out. I go to the Toyota owners website and it says no safety recalls on my truck either.

My wife's '19 Corolla falls into this recall as well. We took it on a 2000 mile trip last summer without any issue. We plan to take another trip in June of about the same distance. If the pump issue is not addressed by then, we will still take the trip. I have confidence that the vehicle will perform just fine.

The Internet can make things seem very scary...often times much more than it really is.

I haven't really heard of anyone experiencing this issue on the forums that I frequent. I suspect this is Toyota being extra cautious. In today's environment it that's a must by automakers.

As for crashing? Seems dramatic. This symptoms of the issue range from a rough running engine and CEL to a complete shutoff of the engine. If that happened you might lose some power steering assist and some brake boosting supplement....meaning you may need to apply more effort to the steering and braking as you pull over.

Yes. There is nothing any dealer can do until Toyota tells them how to proceed.

I checked at the Toyota recall web site and got a negative. Then I checked at
    https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2019/TOYOTA/TACOMA/PU%252FCC/4WD
and it came back with a positive.

Don't know who to believe. Does anyone know what characters in the VIN indicate the date of manufacture? I tried to follow the decoding from a couple of web sites and the characters not match up.

I've not heard of any failures either, but I've got to believe Toyota thinks it's serious with enough failures to warrant a full blown recall. This recall, if it involves replacing the pump, will run in the millions of dollars for Toyota.

I'm not sure of that. But In my case, Toyota's site listed '19 Corollas produced between August '18 and January '19. Our 'Rolla was produced in December '18. So we're in. Rather than using the vin # to get the build date, I just looked at the placard in the door jamb. Then I entered the vin # to confirm.

If it's an in-tank pump than on vehicle like our Corolla it's probably just a matter of removing the rear seat and accessing the service cover for the pump. But on the Tacoma I would assume that it would require either dropping the fuel tank or removing the bed

No fucking way I'd be ok with my truck gone for a month unless I get a taco loaner. Is this not a 1 day job?

It's the fuel pump on the engine, it's just going to be a reflash of the computer for the fix. This is per my service manager. So far my 18 doesn't have the recall. Only one I have is the TSS bullshit and I have no issues with mine. If it's broke don't fix it is what I'm saying.

FFS ive lost count the number of times ive had to bring this brand new fucking truck to the dealer for repairs. with only 25k on it.

Aside from the regularly scheduled maintenance intervals, its been in to have the brake MC replaced, clutch pedal assembly and MC replaced (took 5 goddamn tries before they could reproduce the issue), TSS sensor fix recall, fixed the sun visor that fell off, my clutch or transmission is making a rattling sound in 1st and 2nd when its cold and the clutch is disengaged im pretty sure is NOT normal and a result of driving the truck for 25k miles on a fucked up clutch.... and now theres a recall on the fucking fuel pump?

    Not a good look Toyota.

My 2019 went in for 15k mile service yesterday and it did not have any recalls related to this either.

I did read that Toyota are gathering more information on the issue - so maybe their disclaimer for not doing mine yesterday?

the article says that not all vehicles have been identified yet. All should be identified by mid March. Keep your fingers crossed.

My truck falls under this recall, just called Toyota. Like others said, letters will be mailed mid March. The dude I spoke to even opened up a case #.

From what I have read the problem is that fuel pump impellers absorb fuel and swell. This has happened mostly in warmer climates.

The service rep at the Toyota dealer in Kamloops, B.C. said that they have not yet seen any vehicles with this problem. And since i am going on an out of town 3-4 week ski trip in late Feb to Wyoming and Montana, if I have a problem I guess I will insist on a new fuel pump or a month long 4x4 loaner.
