I'm glad to see Toyota let someone else make their frames, hopefully they do a better job. My replacement is 3 years old and still looks good. Of course I make sure I do my best to keep the truck clean and (relatively) salt free.....well, as salt free as you can get in Ohio.

Toyota hasn't made their own frames since about 1993.

You're lucky then, because they didn't have to.

They drove dana right out of that business. Its not a question of LETTING anyone do anything. In fact, Toyota didn't even do much, since Metalsa picked up the scraps left over by dana, and even continued for a while building the frames in the **same facility** (they have since moved it).

Is there any concrete evidence on what’s going on with how Metalsa changed anything with how the Tacoma frames were made? I see people say something changed with how things were done, or kept using the same exact frames, but nothing that seems any more concrete than random forum posts. I mean for all we know shit got worse lol.

This would be horrible PR for Toyota and lawyers look for stuff like this.

But still, you just tell them you're going to talk to a lawyer. Have a friend come in dressed in a suit, give no name and "take notes".

    Works almost Everytime.

Not a thing. But FWIW, those claiming that its the exact same frame seem to be only people with 2004 and older.

Metalsa didn’t take over until 2010. And we see so far how that’s playing out with the current 2nd gen recall.

I know we see pics of rusted 2010+ on the forum but everything has been tainted with legit frame failure vs piss poor owner care clouding the picture.

    EXACTLY.
Which means that everybody with a 2004 or older truck with a frame swap done, got a DANA frame, same as what it had to start with.

We don't see much right now....

Every steel thing rusts, when as you say "piss poor owner care clouding the picture".

When I said we are seeing how it’s playing out I’m just referencing the Dana frame era and the 05-10 recall which was under their production timeframe.
