Yeah, Canada doesn't have the same warranty as the USA.

He did own a 1st gen prior to getting his 2010 DC. That truck had the frame replaced a month or two before he traded it in. He was anticipating having til 2022 to get the frame replaced. Seems like Toyota had different plans

There fact that any vehicle has a rusting frame past the year 1990, and even more so past the year 2000 is just pathetic honestly. Such an archaic easy to fix problem

    Not accurate.
Failing to maintain a frame (regardless of choice in undercoating) will destroy it.
Applying something like a rubberized undercoating (or paint, or basically anything besides just plain old OIL) to a frame that is *ALREADY RUSTED* can make things worse.

Its actually worse than it used to be.
And by that I do NOT mean that cars rust worse than they used to, but rather that the environment is a heck of a lot more HOSTILE than it used to be.

Salt didn't used to be as prevalent as it is now. Now, they just dump a billion tons of salt ever 10 feet on every road you ever drive on. Used to be that they were smart enough to use this other stuff called SAND on a lot of roads (not all, but lots more than they use now), which would get you lots of traction, without murdering metal. They also have this sticky saline slime that they spread on roads out of tanks now that they didn't used to use. That stuff is REALLY horrible.

And on top of that, if cars didn't rust out, how would they keep selling more of them? Obviously if you want to add 30 years to a car's life, you just have to galvanize the thing.

Well I bought my Tacoma new at Johnston’s in New Hampton ( Middletown) but I live in Columbia county so Kinderhook Toyota is the local dealer that passed it . 6-10 months later I made an appointment for the driveshaft /u joint TSB at Johnston’s and sure enough they said I needed my frame inspection. So I said  and sure enough they found a hole that was so obvious I don’t know how I didn’t see it !

As with most things in life, its not as simple as you think it is.

What exactly is this easy fix you speak of?

How exactly do you weld a galvanized frame without poisoning yourself?

Why would you want to weld a galvanized frame?

Crawl under your truck and count the number of welds to the frame

Are you under the mistaken impression that you would have to galvanize the frame BEFORE it is welded? That would be really silly, and quite ineffective, since the welded areas would not be protected. You would build the frame out of steel, COMPLETE, and THEN galvanize it.

    You're mistaking "value" with "cost".
