Very rarely do I lock the front and rear together and you're right having both front and rear engaged in 4H and driving fast would not be good. I take it slow and steady.

I only ever use my lockers when I am on very slippery rutted 2 tracks with articulation. When my wheels come off the ground (even a little bit) is when I lose traction. It's also nice to have a front locker in 4H going through sugar sand or deep beach sand. I find this beneficial when I haven't aired down.

How did you add front lockers to your 2020?

My apologies I didn't explain that right I guess.

My Tacoma came with open diffs and a LSD button (Limited Slip Differential) like all Base and SR5 models. I do not have a E locker or crawl control.

I have added a front and real ARB air lockers to my truck just in the past few weeks.

Before the lockers I would wheel in 2WD with my Auto LSD on as it also turns off the traction control as to not limit my RPM's. When needed I would switch into 4H with the Auto LSD still on. I wasn't sure if the Auto LSD still works in 4H as it works in 4L as demonstrated in the video. The drivers manual states that Auto LSD does not work in 4WD. The video proves otherwise but only demonstrated it in 4L not 4H.

My point was I was able to tackle some pretty challenging sandy muddy hills with 4H and Auto LSD on.

He lost any credibility when he started complaining about the TSS after he mounted it behind his custom grille. There is a reason they are not mounted behind the stock grilles idiot.

Read the post I linked you. It will explain things. For example, AutoLSD is a form of traction control (not a mechanical limited slip differential) that is only available in 2wd. Although not mentioned in that article, in my fairly limited experience AutoLSD shuts off (or downgrades to TRAC) above 3mph or so. I've used it to get unstuck from a parking spot and then turned it off a handfull of times. However, I do think I need to do a more exhaustive hi speed AutoLSD experiment.

I did this low-speed experiment some time back:

Right on I’ve been happy with the 4hi and skinny pedal but I did have an issue in the snow/mud where 4lo wouldn’t engage. It went away when I washed off the underside of the truck. Headscratcher.

I'm with you, but if I'm going slow I'm in 4lo not 4hi thus I don't gripe much about the locker not being available in 4hi. TBQH, my locker is not always engaged in 4lo either because it makes turning in tight spaces annoying.

Mine shifts so bad... I got 12mpg last weekend on the interstate at 80mph with a strong head wind. Flat ground, engine screaming in 4th. Up to 6th, back, up, back, up back, up. Even in town, it is the absolute worst transmission I've had in any vehicle for 20+ years. The dealer says it's normal. And it looks to be normal. NEVER AGAIN TOYOTA!

This guys a moron. I made it 1 minute in to the video. As for 4hi to 4lo, I’ve switched between without issue. On a super steep grade going up (and down) roads to cell towers.

    Worked fine for me :notsure:

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I have 79k miles on my 3rd gen. The parts replaced on my truck? Skid control wire, rear abs sensor, frame Wiring harness was stretched/ damaged, fuel pump replacement, evap canister (entire assembly), fuel tank filler neck(2x), gas cap.

Parts that needed replacement because of the manufacturer? fuel pump recall.
Parts that were replaced because of damage from debris? frame Wiring harness
Parts replaced because of inept toyota techs that caused issues or misdiagnosed issues with my truck?---- evap canister (entire assembly), fuel tank filler neck (x2), gas cap (Dealership fixed all at no cost to me). Parts that were cost to me--Skid control wire, rear abs sensor, frame Wiring harness

The worst part of owning my truck? The dealership. period.

I thought the system can be permanently deleted. If so disable TSS from the OR Tacoma that's being modified to perform OR.

I don’t think it can be deleted. But I have read a few people say the dealer will make your settings stick after turning the truck off. I.E. hold the button to turn it off once, instead of every time the truck starts.
