I would just be directive next time on what oil you want. I used to work at a small mom and pop auto shop. Some people would be very specific on theiroils and if it was synthetic they would bring it and thats what I would put in there. If you took your vehicle there it was almost always pen 10W30. I liked Castrol so I brought my own. If it was the recemended oil from the manual they should have it too. It is about the same price to have them do it as it is doing it yourself, so why get dirty? I would just make sure they do it right (as best you can) and check your dipstick when done to make sure it is new oil. What ever you do, I will not go to Walmart due to mistakes I have seen, or jiffy lube due to this:

I will have the dealer do it or a Mom and Pop shop where I know the people well. I can do it myself too, but no need for the price.

I damn sure want what the manuel says, not what the dealer want's to put in. You're right, probably wouldn't hurt, but, let's do quantity and quality. I've got first free change coming up Jan, which better be Syn 0/W 20. I already did an initial change at 820 mi.myself, including lube which took a lot of grease. The original packet Toyota sent said conventional oil, then re-sent another packet saying synthetic.
