Toyota Tacoma 2010 Prerunner V6 Wont Coast to stop

i mean it recently passed its most recent emissions test

 

Do the RPM drop to 1000 when it’s in D and you let off the gas at highway speed?

 

No well sometimes when its around 45 or 50 it will drop then it will slowly rise to about 1500 to 2k the more you go up

 

Maybe a video of the truck showing the speedometer ?

I would like to see what his clutch fan looks like

 

Yea Ill hop on the highway and video tape the speedometer and the rpms for reference!

 

Not wanting to toss a monkey wrench into this, but......

To me, it sounds like normal transmission doing its downshift when slowing. My truck will downshift when coasting, foot off throttle around 30-35 mph, engine is just over 1000 rpm during the coast.

I don't have near the mileage as OP, only 115,xxx miles. Although, same engine and tranny.

I have never been able to coast to a stop after running at speed.

Any codes being tossed by the transmission???

 

I havent received or had any check engine codes and or transmission codes just yet but just for a stored stretched timing chain

 

Below is the fan clutch looks decent to me Im going to open the throttle body later to see if its dirty

 

We need confirmation that your catalytic converter is not plugged . Its a matter of running a vacuum test using a vacuum gauge connected to a vacuum port below the throttle body on the intake manifold . Once the vacuum gauge is connected , snap the throttle up to 2000 rpm and then let your foot off the gas pedal .If manifold vacuum doesnt drop quickly , your cat is plugged or starting to plug .
Next , grab the clutch fan while the truck is cold .Can you spin the clutch fan when its cold ?
Some simple tests before we go deeper .

Well back to the drawing board Catalytic convertor is still in operation recently cleaned the throttle body and nope still the same problem Im going to end up taking it to another shop to see if they can diagnose the issue without dropping the tranny

 

drive up a big hill, then accelerate down it for a short bit, then let off the gas while you still have a lot of hill to go down, it should downshift to engine brake on its own at some point.
does that feel the same as what you're feeling otherwise?

Its been doing this for about 2000 miles
