The auto company said the sales suspension wouldn't affect Lexus or Scion vehicles. Toyota said the Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids, would remain for sale. Those vehicles contain gas pedals produced by a different North American supplier from the one whose parts are invovled in the current sales halt, Toyota has said.

i wonder what this will do to tacoma values?
Would it lower the value due to Bad Pr for toyota about quality. and since tacomas are still being sold will there be a flooding of the market by people that wanted a tundra but got a taco?

How would the stability control computer control the throttle if it was a mechanical link?

Apparently the source of the problem is a parts supplier in Ontario.
That explains the problem. Canadian slacker screwed up what was probably a great Japanese designed part.

I'm wondering if this gives any leverage on new tacoma sales. Since the dealers arent moving as many cars due to the restrictions, anyone think they'll be a little more aggressive to make some extra sales?

The company is CTS in Mississauga they make the plastic pedal assembly that is being recalled I think it is more of a design problem than an assembly problem... imo. The vehicles that are not being recalled have a pedal that is made by Nippondenso.

I have a feeling the Design Engineer who showed his boss how much money Toyota can save using Plastic instead of Metal parts for the Accelerator is now standing at the EDD line.

Its amazing sometimes to watch a company find a way to save Thousands on a cheaper made part, only later to find out it will cost them Millions on a Recall. This may or may not be the case here but I have a feeling.....

I worked for HP Computers and when a Recall would surpass the Profit margin, we'd just pull the plug on that project and move on to the next. Kind of like the HP Televisions Division. Here one day, gone the next. And the customers who bought them......:annoyed:

Hopefully, Toyota will take this problem seriously and double think the next cost saving tip.

i think that our value will go up because the vehicles listed above are the ones in the green. the tundra is the only truck with problems. the taco is ok...so says yahoo.

anyway this is crazy at the biggest point. why toyota why? you sometimes cant put a computer everywhere. sometimes you need good ol fashioned metal and bolts.
