Search a bit on the use of wheel spacers. They can be problematic. IMO avoid them. The 285s rub the upper control arm on stock 17s. Also you will have to remove your mud flaps with 285s. Compare a 275 to a 285 to see the size difference. I chose 275s because they avoid so much other problem areas.

No, usually KPT shows up and sets everyone in the right direction with their wheel/tire questions. He seems to know it all about wheels/spacers etc.

The hubcentric spidertrax are your best bet for a wheel spacer. And as was mentioned earlier, you will need them if you want to clear 285s on stock rims.

They said you'd chime in KPT....Thanks! Toytec responded saying with 285's I'll need to trim the mud flaps and the fender liner....Has that been your experience?

    Sorry I was late

Yes, you'll need to trim some fender well plastic for sure. Some people have to chop their cab mounts as well.

I have 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on a set of stock FJ Alloy wheels and a 3" lift. Had to install a set of 1.25 hubcentric spacers, and a little trimming in the front of the fender wells was required, also.

Allpro Offroad makes some Hubcentric wheel spacers that are great, for a good price. Just make sure you get a tube of loctite when you install them and check your lugs and bolts regularly.

Thanks, it is good to hear there are options and worthwhile to take the time to plan and get it right before starting installation......

What is the backspace and offset with the FJ Wheels?

I'm looking at the 285/75/16 on Ultra 16 X 8 wheels with 4.88 inches backspace and 10mm of offset.
