I've noticed my TPMS seems to read 2-3 PSI lower than tire pressure gauges. Is there a way to correct this?

What usually happens is I air down to go on a trail with my ARB rapid deflator. That gauge usually reads around 19-20 when I stop. When I get in the vehicle and start driving it usually settles on 16-17. Then when I reinflate I use a slime digital pressure gauge with my Viair 400p until the slime gauge reads 30 psi then I stop. When I get in and drive for a bit it usually comes in at 27-28 psi per tire. So it seems to me like it is the TPMS that is off. I'd love to figure out how to calibrate it if that's possible.

    Here's one for you..
What if the TPMS is correct but the other gauge is off :anonymous:

I’m above 4000 feet in Utah.

That’s why I mentioned that both the ARB and slime gauge seem to be off by the same amount so TPMS seems more likely.

I know this is an old thread but this may help someone else…

TPMS uses an atmospheric tire guage where as regular tire guages don’t take into affect the barometric pressure.

Read this link and use the chart to compensate.

@codemancer for you to get 30 psi inside the tire you would need to inflate to 32psi with your slime guage.

Realistically your TPMS is actually reading correctly… @WZ00R2 ;)

Thanks for the info! I never quite solved this problem so I'm glad I can choose TPMS as the more accurate source.

I just had the same problem, was trusting my dedicated jaco pressure guage and my pressures were way out, 8,500 ft elevation.
