I have a 07' TRD 4x4 , one of my sensors had gone bad (light on) a couple of years ago and Americas Tire diagnosed which wheel

Should I go ahead and replace all 4 or just the known bad one

Buy from Toyota or is there a different suggestion??

I am hoping to get new tires in the next couple of weeks

    Thanks

If you will be replacing all four tires soon, then i suggest replacing all 4 tpms sensors at that same time.

If one of them are dead and they were all installed at the same time, then the remaining sensors will be low on battery and die soon.

Factory vs non oem sensor is up to you and your budget.

Once one of mine went, others quickly followed. So unless budget won’t allow either replace them all when you change tires or just disable the system. I have two sets of tires so now that my original TPMS went, I’m disabling.

I had the same, tpms light lit. I also went to America's tire, they said the two passengers side needed replacing when I went for a set of 4 tires. They hooked me up with a good grippy set for my xrunner and replaced those 2. On the way home tpms lit up again. I went back the next day, he said the others were working yesterday, scanned all 4 with a hand held thing, hooked up to the obd and got it to go out. That was about a month ago, today it's lit up again. So I'm going back tomorrow, thinking I should have had all 5 replaced at the same time.

    Can’t disable it

Definitely do a full set at once. Some tire stores will cut you a discount for doing a full set, especially if you’re getting tires as well.. or atleast the tire store I worked at did (we would sale them $75 each or a set for $200)
And the supposed average life span of the batteries in the sensors are only 5 to 7 years. So considering you have an 07 id day the other 3 are soon to follow

rockauto has them for about $32 each so you have to see what the tire store charges to install and program. They always want to replace the o-rings every time anyway.
My 2009 had one just fail so when I get tires in the next few months will probably do all 4. batteries will all be going soon. They may charge more per TPMS but include free programming so you have to ask. Not sure but does the 05-08 have a TPMS on the spare also. 2009 up does not only 4.

You should really only have 4. Saves a lot of headaches. Plus I don't rotate in my spare either.

My 2013 only has 4. Never had a problem! I was @ the tire shop & they said I needed 1 more. I said no I don't our trucks only have 4 of them. The guy then agreed with me.

Headache indeed. I went back twice already AFTER having 2 replaced while buying 4 new tires. Then last night it’s lit up again.

Some models came stock with 5. On those models all 5 have to function and be at the correct psi to keep the light off.

Mine has a 5th one for the spare as well. Think only 3 of 5 need to report pressure for the system to not light the dash. Two of my originals died so I had them removed but when I’m using that set of wheels the light stays off if the pressures are good. When I’m using my other set, the only wheel with a sensor is the spare and the dash light will come on after 5-10 miles.

I just got new rims & reused my factory ones & still no problems on my Tacoma. Also 4 sensors on the 08 Corolla but the light comes on when the psi is off.

My last 2 trucks have not had working sensors so I'm used to looking at that light. Just another gimmick added to vehicles to jack up the price.
