TPS replacement

    I got a new TPS and was wondering when i replace it, do i need to reset the computer or will removing the negative battery terminal do this. Could not find any info. on this. Any and all help would be great!

    O.K. then it will have to be a shop. The closest dealer is 60 miles away!

    Are you getting a code?

    Can't you leave the batt disconnected for 20-30 minutes and/or get a cheap OBDII scanner for ~40$ and reset it your self? (That was my understanding, not a known fact)

    I'm about to replace my TPS and im pretty positive all thats involved is a few screws then resetting the battery.. very easy fix to do yourself.

    Just got back from my mechanic and he told me that all i have to do was dissconnect the neg. terminal to battery and put it on. (Yes he is certified and would not steer me wrong). He said the the ECU would reset for the changes. IDK but i will give it a try if it works great but not then i will put the old one back on and let him take care of it. btw all he drives are tacomas he has 3.

    (the 01 has the cable style TPS, not the TBW the 03/04 has)

    Phew! I started to doubt my mechanics ability. 20 min. fix and no more studdering. Might as well clean the throttle body while im at it. will MAF cleaner work for this?
