Do any of you have experience either the Rola Or Tracrac Trac-one bed racks? The Rola comes with rail mounts. The Tracrac rail mount kit is an additional $60 or so. HomeDepot has the Tracrac for $298. Rola at Amazon is $296.

    Thanks

Huh, wasn't aware of the Rola. I've been looking at TracRac and Thule Xsporter. I would be interested in hearing more about Rola. I don't believe Trac Rac has locking components like the Rola. Let us know how it goes.

I had 2 trac racs ... the first one on my GMC Sierra and it worked great... it could hold up to 1000lbs. They heaviest I loaded it was about 500lbs.

The other one that I bought was for the Tacoma which I still have and it is the one from Home Depot and it does the job. It is a little more flexible because it doesn't have the angle cross bar but so far when I used it does the job. The reason I bought the TRAC RAC was that I seen people cut the height and width to make it fit the Tacoma better which I did. I cut the height 4 1/2 inches and width 5 inches.

I am curious about the ROLA.

Depends how much weight you will carry the THULE will be another option but a lot more expensive.

Check Craigslist that might be the deciding factor.

Looks like the Rola holds 400lb to the Trac Racs 800lb. On Amazon its an additional $40off. I had the Trac Rac and it was solid. I didn't like the bolts taking it on and off for winter. This Rola looks like I can had tighten. Well see...

Used the ROLA for the first time last week. Assembly was a headache and the tolerances are very loose, meaning one of the uprights isn't welded to the attachment to place completely straight and requires a decent amount of yanking and pushing to get it on the truck.

Once it was on and I was content with the alignment it was great and handled the 3 kayaks like a champ. For $200 it'll do what it needs to do the 3 times a year that I'll use it and it's not worth the effort to ship it back.

If I had to do over, I'd probably spend the extra $60 on a tracrak.
