Just found out another friend of mine got killed on a tractor today. Y’all please be careful even if you think it’s something simple

I have a big one that needs to get torched. My fear is a flaming rabbit coming out of the pile and lighting up all the adjacent fields.
Need to be ready with a shotgun or something. :notsure:

I had a moment today where it made me think about what I was doing a little closer.
I keep a three point ball mount hitch to I can move my utility trailer (1100 lb unloaded) and my popup camper (3500lb/430lb tongue). When moving the camper today the 3pt swung to one side while I was backing up it rocked my little Kubota a bit. I was standing and looking backward operating the pedal with my toe and had one hand on the ROPS. It could have easily tossed me off. I need to get my driveway squared away so I can park the camper back there again.

tractor is still shivering a bit but it is doing much better.

At the end of the day, after I was done working with it, went to check the transmission filter screen again and there was still a bit of disc fragments in there. Nothing in the filters or the priority valve. Sucks that there is no transmission pan to get the all the fragments out at once...

Torched a friend's over the winter and had several rabbits run out. Luckily none of them were on fire but it made me think.

Finished processing and stacking my firewood for this coming winter on Saturday :woot:

    20200802_133840_resized.jpg

Then I hopped on the tractor and finished spreading/grading the fill I brought in for the lower lot. Built up the trail I built for tractor access from the back side, so hopefully that'll be less soft in the spring. Also finished pushing out the last of the big rocks and rolled (they were all way too heavy to lift) them over to the pile to finish opening up the lower side where the car tent will go this fall.

    20200802_120607_resized.jpg

Next on the list is to take down that y-shaped Birch in picture 2, because it apparently died over the winter. But it's leaning hard in the wrong direction so it'll have to be rigged and I didn't want to do it while I still had 2 big piles of dirt in the landing zone

You a woodcutting maniac. I've had good luck with a 100ft cable and come along with my directed felling. Below is a 40ft'er I dropped right next to my old wellhouse with a 10" electric chainsaw when my POS Poulan wouldn't start. How do you rig?

They make great engine hoists. Last weekend dropped in my brother-in-laws V-6 in his Ranger.

4-6 cord a year, depending on the winter.
Depends on the tree. I've got a pair of Arborist's bull ropes, rated at 20k working load. Both are the 'leftover' end cuts from a 5,000 foot roll so I got them really cheap, but they're odd lengths (one is like 93 feet and one is 87 or something like that). I've also got a 20k snatch block that I use to redirect and pull in a direction other than towards the truck. There's also a couple of assorted 20k straps and some 3/8 tow chains that get assigned various duties.

Example of one of the leaners I dropped on my property a couple of years ago:

    20170812_173759_resized.jpg

Snatch block anchored to the base of a tree in the direction I wanted the tree to drop in:
    20170812_173805_resized.jpg

While the work truck pulled the other way:
    20170812_173750_resized.jpg

I really need to stop and take more pictures while I'm working; I've rigged & dropped quite a few trees around my property and for some other people over the last few years but I don't have any photos of it

Finally got the outbuilding moved. Needed to rotate it 180° and it’s full of stuff. Got a friend who works for the power company and he gave me this pole he cut for fence post. Had to move them about twenty times but finally got it rotated and in position with the tractor.

We had a direct hit from a tornado. I've been putting my little BX to work clearing brush and piles of woodschips. Small work on my property compared to the machines the tree companies are using, but it gets the job done.

Yes. No injuries, but a lot of close calls. Some folks woke up to branches in their face after trees came through their roof.

Nice! Yeah, mine's a 1984. I have the original manual and everything. My neighbor gave it to me about 15 years ago and it's been going strong ever since.
