YES, in a heart beat. ive looked into getting a Hilux from Canada but you cant getem to be registered here. All you can do is buy a half cut (cab and motor no bed no wheels just engine trans and everything you need to swap) and motor swap. plus toyota make like 3 or 4 diffrent diesels including turbos.

I'm not sure that a 4 cyl diesel would take the place of my V6....but if I could put up a reasonably similar showing for power and capacity...I'd prolly think about it HARD.

It'd be nice to be able to make fuel for 90 cents a gallon or so...

a 4 cyl TD wouldnt have the hp, but my god would it have the torque to move whatever you wanted, granted its a mid-size truck so lets be reasonable. not to mention the mpg and mods available

Personally, if I was going to buy a diesel I would get a 3/4 ton truck. A mid size 4 cylinder diesel really doesn't appeal to me.

Depends on the spec's. I would happily trade my 4.0L V6 for a boosted 4Cyl Diesel.

    HA!

But back to the topic, it would be nice to have the torque of a diesel even in a 4 cylinder. Also, biofuel and that sort of this would make it cheap to power, and be a fun project!
