I currently own a 2010 DC Sport. I originally wanted an access cab but decided to get the DC thinking my wife and I would need the cab room. 1 year later I realize I do not need the room, nor do I need the bed space of my current long bed, a short bed would be fine. When I bought the Tacoma I was looking for a compact truck, and should have gone AC. My question is will I be looking at a big loss on my 2010 DC Sport with 25000 km if I traded it in? Also, has anyone done this? If so are you happy? Regret it?

Just so everyone knows I live in Canada and at TRD level packages we only get double cab long bed sports or access cab short bed off roads. So those two are my only options.

My guess is you will lose big on the trade. But it doesn't hurt to see what they will give you. Play the card that production is slowing since nothing is comming in from japan. This means no new cars for them and they will need used to keep the doors open.

FYI unless they build a completely special truck just for Canada which is about 99% chance they don't the AC will be long bed. It is almost the same length as the DC SB. There is only one size beds for AC long.

Yeah you guys are right. My mistake. It is a long bed. Went and looked. Still curious. Gonna go get a few numbers from the dealership.

My dealer recently offered me $23K for my 2010 DC SB with 8,500 miles. New sticker was $27K.

You will loose your butt in a trade. Your better off to keep it, besides later down the road you may have regretted trading it. A little extra room is nice. I have the double cab and usually im the only one in it, but its nice to have extra room when needed. ;)

Trade for the DC Off Road Short Bed and have them install a TRD supercharger so you can roll it into your payment.

I'm heading into the dealership in the morning to see what they say. If the difference is too much, I might even consider trading for a used AC to make it possible, if that's still a big jump, then I'll keep my truck and be happy with it. I'll post what happens on here just in case anyone is interested.

I've never heard of anyone else trading down from an double cab to an access cab. Usually it's just the opposite like I did. I also wanted to keep the compact size and went with the shortbed, but the longer bed might come in handy sometimes. I'd keep it.

how about sell your truck privately and go down south to buy one. i'm pretty sure you'll end up close to being even.

I've traded my 2009 for a 2011. There will be a loss no doubt, but it's your choice to accept it or not, though, you will not be the first to trade in a ''new'' truck.

"trading down"? what? a DC isnt better than an AC, or vice versa. or an OFF-ROAD isnt a step "UP" from a "sport". it's based on the need of the owner. i like never having to drive 3 of my friends around. my AC is a pretty good fit for my lifestyle.

X2. And sorry to burst your bubble, but most people, to whom I talk at least, find the access cab to have a greater look and have better proportions. To me, going to a double cab would be a ''downgrade'' and I would really need to be in the obligation to do so.

Which matters to people concerned more with the look of their truck over it's function .
