I worked at Nissan when the new XD came about and the interior of the platinum or pro 4X are very very nice! But they did start out a little high on price because the truck is NOT a 6.7 super duty or a 6.6 Duramax when I first drove the truck drives smooth brakes aren't as well as I would have liked them to be and the truck doesn't spool as fast or pull as hard as the ford or Chevy granted it is a diesel not a sports car now that they are offering the dealer discounts i don't think it would be a bad trade off but the 5.0 Cummins is not comparable to the classic 12 valve also the XD is a huge upgrade compared to the old gas titans they had to many problems to count I thought we only did warranty work for awhile when the exhaust manifolds and rear ends would blow plus the heaters never worked don't be sold on only the XD some older chevys and fords can be had in the same price range as well!

Thanks for the feedback. I only asked because I also have a 2013 Sierra that my son drives. We have had nary an issue with the truck, however it is mid-level trim wise so I don't have heated seats or a power slider. It is not perfect by any means but the LS motor and trans combo work very well. I am aware that the trucks tend to lose wheel bearings at 100K-120K miles so I built the tool for that job already as I know trying to replace them without the bearing removal tool is a challenge

I can't strap the load down until I get it loaded. At this point all the lumber is tilted down to the tailgate making it extremely difficult to try and install tie downs. Then I'd have to stand on a pile of tilted plywood and jump up and down like a gorilla to get it to flatten out in order to tighten the straps.

the bed is the same size as a shortbed tacoma bed and it doesn't have wheel wells taking up space.....

Even on a longbed, it's shorter than 4 feet from the back of the wheel well to the tailgate. With a 4 foot wide load, like 4x8 plywood, it will hang off the end of any taco further than the ridgeline unless you have boards in place to get the load above the wheel wells.

I thought I was being a grammar asshat, I was tired and had no idea what was going on by the end. Punctuation does help.

My honest opinion is that based on reviews of the Tacoma and my recent experiences with mine, you should trash the truck, that's a given.

I have never been a fan of Nisans. I think they are pretty expensive and their interiors look very cheap. I also don't like their interior organization, which to me is a big deal since I spend so much time in my truck lol. So I'm not into the Titan (and it's ugly IMO). Now I will say this. I think Cummins makes the best diesel. Up till now they have only bee available in Rams which I would never buy due to being POS and having severe rust problems. I don't think that will be as much of an issue in the Titan. So I think mechanically it might be a solid choice, or a more solid choice than Dodge/Ram.

I personally am biased on Fords because they have served me so well and they IMO make the best looking trucks. If Ford released an F150 EcoDiesel today I would be selling both my trucks. I've really been considering going to a diesel just because of longevity and durability.

    Good luck with your choice.

    Gents,

I appreciate all of your input. I pulled the trigger on a 2016 F150 Lariat 5.0 today. It's nicely equipped with a few extras.

I'm still a Toyota fan and will likely pick up another one in a few years when they get their shit together. The 3rd gen was my 4th Toyota, I had a '96, '98, '10, '16, it had a nice design and interior but the trans was lacking.

    Thanks again.

I would think with the TITAN XD being a first year vehicle I'm sure they have some kinks. I have a customer that had one and when I asked him about it he said he had almost 18k miles on his and only problem he had was with a dash light kept coming but he took it in and they fixed it. Flashed the computer is my guess but he said he really likes it. Besides its a CUMMINS product I'm sure it fine honestly.

Well, looks like you gotta do like I've been told and grab a box and empty the contents of your desk, turn in your badge and get escorted out of the third gen office, my friend!
