I know, what is up with that? Some people take offense to getting rid of the Taco. Eh @Marcoc (k)?

Neither, I ended up going with an F150 5.0. I figured in the end that was the best bet and I got a decent deal on a 2016 leftover.

I traded my Taco for a Canyon diesel, and I'm still here. Mainly because I was told to go, so I stay out of spite. Also the Colorado forum is like watching paint dry. Enjoy the 5.0, it's a solid engine.

Sounds like we should have an 'ex-third gen' support group, lol.

I have to say I doubt I will go back. I think I'm going to find a project 1984-1985 Toyota with the 22re and 5spd.

You know what else I like about my truck? Look at the temp this morning.
    1. Remote start.
    2. Heated leather seats, and;
    3. Heated leather wrapped steering wheel FTW!

Oh man was it nice to get into this rig this morning, lol.

LOL. I used to work for a car dealership and the dealer's wife would yell and scream at people all the time. After I left there, every now and then would stop by to say hello to her and tell her I missed being yelled at, my new boss is so nice to me. Tacomaworld is kinda like that.

Have you had Rev 1 TSB for the tranny done? It makes shifting much much better. Feels like a truck should.

Heated steering wheel is on my list for my next truck.

Not a fan of the remote start as idling is hell on an engine. Ford has the cabin controlled grill vents to make the cabin heat faster

Nice choice on the F-150. I'm eyeing up used 5.0L super cab 4wd's, really liking the new body style and aluminum weight reduction.

Why not just trade your current Tacoma for a manual transmission one if you like everything about it except the auto. I just picked up a 17 DCSB Sport M/T and absolutely love it. I've only owned full size trucks in the past and the Tacoma is my favorite truck by a long shot.

At least look at a Tundra if you need to ditch the Taco. You're going to take a big hit financially by trading the Tacoma so soon and it'll be a double whammy by getting a Titan on top of that. At least sticking with Toyota will get you better resale and predicted reliability, while being less of a financial hit in the long run.

I traded my 3rd gen in about a month ago for a new 16 F150 FX4 with 5.0. Loving it! Lots of power and no weird downshifts on minor hills. I had it leveled the first week I got it to get rid of that factory rake. I drove Fords from 95-2012 without any real problems. I think I will just be sticking with them now.

I don't get statements like this. What is it based off of? Do you own a 3rd gen? Why specifically do you feel the way you do about it? I have a 3rd gen and have not had a single issue yet. Even if I did, I would not be upset with a few issues if they were fixed under warranty. I personally think this truck is fantastic.

Ok I actually have some solid advice on this one as I've driven a fair amount of the new Titans in gas and diesel.

    Pros:
Huge rebates, because nobody's buying them
100k mile bumper to bumper warranty
XD package has a gooseneck hitch

    Cons:
    Can't see out of it
Have way more issues than these Tacomas (transmission slipping and minor electrical issues have been what I've both experienced and read)
    Resale...sucks...to say the least

Up to you OP, take a couple for a drive and see what you think. I don't have the need or want for a fullsize, if I did I would go F150 or Toyota. Only way I'd take the Nissan is if it was between that and the Ram

    Good points here.

I haven't owned the Titan, but I have owned the Silverado, RAM 1500, and Tundra. I also have experience with the new Colorado, F150's as some family members have them. I have a '17 Tacoma DCSB Sport M/T, and it is my favorite vehicle I've owned. The closest second is the Tundra, but that got shit gas mileage and was HUGE. The is also a new aluminum F150 and a '16 Colorado in my family. The Colorado owner always complains about it and is looking to trade it for a Tacoma. I've driven it as well, and I'd take my Tacoma any day of the week.

I'd say you'll probably like the powertrain of the Nissan at first because it'll be a big power increase over the Taco, but you will eventually realize you made a mistake. I don't think you should drop the Tacoma, but if you need a full-size, I'd go Tundra or F150.

The thing with the Diesel Titan is that it doesn't feel all that powerful. I know people that have been test driving them have left unimpressed, and, if they are dead set on the new Titan, they get the gas version instead.

I really give credit to Nissan for trying to create a market for a heavy duty half ton pickup truck, but it's not working out for them.

I agree with you on what you said about everything. There's a reason I didn't buy an F150, or Colorado. F150 is too large for my needs and can't make it where my Tacoma can. I've already had to haul an F150 out of a snowy trail because it was too big and heavy to make it. The Colorado is pathetic, although the ZR2 is going to be a pretty cool package.

Every truck is a compromise in some respect, OP. Sounds like you are on an everlasting search for the perfect truck. I imagine that is expensive.

Statistically the truck has been a disaster. Look at the latest Consumer Reports. First time in a while Toyota has poor reliability ratings.

Can't understand why folks here keep comparing the Tacoma to a full size truck. It's comparing apples to oranges.
