Just the norm skids, sliders, & 35's
5.7 PowerStroke......hmmm........that's defiantly new. Must be that new fancy package with upgraded muffler bearings and turbo cooled blinker fluid.

As far as Tundra vs. F-150 my only advice is get what ever the hell you want. Go drive both and get the one you like.

    Stock for now
    My brother's girlfriend's uncle's brother-in-law works with a guy
whose son drives a 2GEN, wishing it was a 3GEN,
    but really wants Tundra,
however needs the eco-boost for better mileage. :)
    Sorry I couldn't resist.

OT - Owned a Tundra, very roomy, great for kids.
Everything ends up in 3GEN now that is just the way TW works....before it was 2GEN, now your turn.

I ended up in a similar situation to you. My Tacoma is way to freaking small for rear facing baby seats. So we had to upgrade. We looked at the Colorado (same issues), 4Runner (fuck ton of expensive), Silverado (gotta give GM it's chance if you try the Colorado), and the F150. In short, the F150 was by far the best value and fit for us. We didn't drive a Tundra, I've looked at them in the past though, because I can't afford a 4 digit truck payment and 13 mpg on the same truck stats wise as the F150 we bought.

I got lucky and we kept the Tacoma :D, but only because she wasn't a fan of her Sonata sticking around long term.

I could talk about my fleet experience here and how the F150 has been extremely reliable, but given where this thread is heading just PM me if you want to know more.

I had a 07 Tundra and sold it 5 years later and I still miss it. I had no problems except for the low gas mileage. It was better than what was on the sticker. I would wait to see if in 2017 they drop the 8 speed into the Tundra. They dropped it in the new 570 Lexus.

You have to consider the transmission ratios as well, the Tundra's very close in each gear including overdrive to GM and Ford with 3.73s. The Tundra 5.7 is just not an efficient engine.

Dude loves his Tacoma, but has an open mind. Really, nobody should be freaking out if he buys an F-150.
Any of the big three trucks just happen to be better than a Tundra. Fuel efficiency and power not competitive. It was marginally competitive when new, now has fallen way behind the competition. It's Toyota being cheap with the consumer. Good for the profits they bring back to Japan, bad for Americans.

With a Ford F-150 super cab, the kids don't have to sit behind you to force you to move your seat. It's a wider truck and the rear seats fit three adults. Get the base six and it should be little more then a comparably equipped crew cab taco. With an aluminum body, if you keep it while, it should save off rust better. XLT, $31k, all basic bells and whistles. 25 mpg highway.what is not to like and you can't find a Toyota that gives you as much for anywhere near the price......

I had a 2010 DC Tundra. I absolutely loved that truck. The only reason I got rid of it was because it got hit.

    Pros
    Reliable
    Great traveling truck
    Plenty of space
    Lots of creature comforts

    Cons
Poor gas mileage (I averaged 13.5mpg during the life of the truck ~42k miles). I had a ARE Z series cap on it.
It's a big footprint. Overall, the truck was huge. It dwarfed my buddies' F150s.
Parking downtown anywhere (specifically here in downtown Portland) is tough

Sure, these are some of the chippy cons about the truck, but they are the most common issues we ran into when deciding on which vehicle to take.

A reason why Ford 150 outsells all other vehicles. If offers a selection of 4 different motors, three different bodie styles and what, five different trim levels.

You compromise when ever you buy a Toyota Tundra. That is why they lag so far behind. OP will just get more choices going with a Ford full size.
As of 2014, Tundra was the only full size not to offer a locking rear diffenrtial in any model, let alone a stand alone option, and an integrated brake controller. This in a truck that prides itself in towing well over 10,000.
It is inefficient, only offers two motor choices and doesn't offer a diesel for now. It seems like Toyota prides it self in selling the "best" truck in last place.

well I can tell you I now have a 15 tundra crew max 4x4 tss/ Had a 09 ridgeline for 5 years 155k before that. Went first to new Ecodiesel and they were brand new and mine had lots of issues nothing major but I couldn't work out the bugs but seems they are through most of the bugs. That was great truck and rode better than all them and got 26 mpg mixed mileage. My Ridgeline got 19 mixed and my Tundra gets 15 mixed. I tried the F150 and wasn't for me. Same with Chev Silveradao and Canyon. My tundra is fantastic and as stated it eats gas. I am looking to go to the new Taco. Not just for fuel but because I didn't realy like the 15 Taco and do like the ride in the 16. I don't need all the room and it fits in garage and heaviest thing I tow is a small Bass boat about 3500 pounds total. Havent done it yet because I do like the tundra. It is real nice. I disagree totally with statement about the interior and looks. I like the interior in them much better than the fancy ford foo foo interior. It also looks better to me on outside but that is preference. Oh I have two work guys here one owns the eco boost ford and he averages 18.9 and one owns the new chev Silverado and he averages 17.5. Id take the Ecodiesel for a ride I think you would be very surprised. If the Tundra would get better mpg it would be a runaway.

Get the tundra. If the mpg is too bad to handle, you can trade/sell it in a hurry.

If you will do any camper towing, you will love the tundra. Mine is a towing beast! I love the towing ability of it.

My brother has had 3 Ram 1500s all going at least 100k with no problems. Great ride and handling with the coil springs. Really like the ecodiesel, considering it in a new Grand Cherokee.

I loved that engine and tranny in the ram I had. I put 13k on it in 4 months before selling it. Like I said mine was one of the first ones and they hadn't got some of the bugs in the programs and stuff worked out yet and I need my truck. It wasn't major but had it in many times. Friend got a 15 last year no problems at all and now has 26k on it. Tows great by the way. Gets 20 pulling his big 5k bass boat. He averages 25 not towing in his. Like you said coil springs rides great. Again nothing wrong with Tundra I love mine except mileage and I really don't need this big truck and id like to park in garage and be able to get around these smaller streets and not take up two lanes. Plus parking in shopping areas is tougher for sure. If I needed space for kids or if towing id buy the tundra in heart beat if heavy towing. If not heavy towing and needed room id go with the ram ecodiesel for ride and fuel savings. Plus towing up to 8k the truck is great in the diesel. The tundra is a beast no question and more room in back seat. Love them both!!

I would think one might know if they can handle the poor mileage going in. I get exactly what my Taco is suppose to. Buying a Tundra then turning around and trading it because of mileage would defeat the whole purpose of saving any money on fuel when you loose it trading a new vehicle back in. Guess I am old fashion.....the Ford is ligit for comparison in mileage.
