A little info on Holy Jim. Its a road, a road to peoples homes. Those side trails are illegal, and will receive a fat ticket for trespassing. There are cops dedicated to the area, and they will sit on either side of the canyon and observe. If they see you hauling ass, smoking weed, whatever, you're caught. There is one way in and one way out, they wait at the end for you.

If you just cruise on the main road you are fine. However, I dont recommend it. That place sucks. When it rains its like a parking lot, its so rough it will loosen your bed bolts and the jagged rocks eat tires. Not to mention I've encountered locals who are armed and not happy about you tearing up and down the road to their homes.

Silverado Canyon is a different story, thats a fun trail to Santiago Peak. DO NOT HAUL THE MAIL ON THIS TRAIL. Lots of people use this trail to ride dual sport motorcycles. A close friend was hurt pretty bad when he was hit by a bunch of kids in a Dodge hauling ass down the trail.

Sorry to draw blood, just telling it how it is! Ive messed up a lot of stuff back there in my high-school days.

^^^ hikers, bikers and pissed off home owners do not go well with off roaders, especially if there's a lot of people up there.

The race sounds cool to. Mike, Johnnie and anyone else who wants to roll, sounds like Barstow might be the ticket. then a little wheelin after the race. not interested in holy jim. dont think i want to run into any upset home owners.

Well I just checked the weather report and it looks like showers in OC this saturday so I guess we are going to have to cancel Silverado Canyon this weekend:(. Oh well would've been fun. I think I'm staying away from Holy Jim sounds like a bad thing waiting to happen. There's a bunch of TW members going on a trail run at Hungry Valley next Saturday 12/11 its a pretty sick trail and pre runner friendly so if anyone interested in going let me know we can caravan up there.

James-I don't mind watching a race in Barstow but I'll have my boys with me. Plus it will be 50* and I'm sure they'll be bugging the crap out of me cause it's too cold. I can probably meet up with you guys towards the end of the race and do some wheelin'. About what time do the races usually end?

it being a 200 mile race, i figure it will likely be about 3 to 6 laps depending on class, so figure around 1pm it should begin to die down...

I just called the Ranger Station and they'll know on Thursday if Silverado Canyon will be open this Saturday.
