I have the FJ version mocked up from when I was making these before. It's on the list.

Makes me wonder how well a full set of skids made from this material would hold up. I know they wouldn't provide much impact protection, but if the goal is to get you to slide over and obstacle, then why not? :notsure:

But if it flexes too much in an upward direction then it could cause you to hang up instead of slide over or damage something. It would be interesting to see this bonded to a lighter weight and thinner material like aluminum. They use a material similar to this on the bottom of airboats to allow them to slide ans skid over obstacles and it adds some rigidity to them.

Titanium is a very good thought. I am not metallurgist but I believe it is not as malleable as aluminum or mild steel, which means it could fracture. Now if the UHMMV acts similar to like Line-X where it adds impact resistance as well as strengthens the metal that could be the ultimate skid!!!

Food for thought though is having the heavy steel skids down the center-line also aids in bringing the COG lower and in the center so those who are more top heavy it would act like a counter balance. Without running that through some algorithms I am not sure how much it would counter balance.

I actually have fractured my steel skids, so I would destroy titanium. :)
My sliders are heavy enough to offset the loss of skid weight.

Yes but sliders are towards the outside thus having a greater effect on rolling center line weight tightens it up and counterbalances it more so. Too much physics this late!!! But you have me thinking!!!

Line-X on body panels makes them like saturn plastic panels more dent resistant so if this stuff has a similar affect but greater then that would be awesome and would make backing titanium with it a killer option.

Cracked your skids man that must have been one hell of a hit or the skids were hard on the rockwell scale.

Progress has been made! I've locked in the use of a waterjet to cut the skids. I ran a trial run yesterday to check the settings.
