I mounted the P3 in my 2020 SR which requires more cutting than I wanted but I had already purchased so went ahead and cut the hole and a piece behind the plate. If I were to do it again I would just get the redarc, much cleaner. 20210228_172811.jpg 20210228_172821.jpg

REDARC makes a plug-and-play harness for Tacomas now, avoiding the need to splice: https://redarcelectronics.com/products/tow-pro-brake-controller-harness-to-suit-toyota-tph-015

Mine on order now with Tow-Pro Elite & stock-looking button knob x 2.5 weeks. Apparently, there are on-going container ship delays from Australia affecting this product. Will update once installed on how it goes.

Interested to hear if others have used the Tacoma-specific harness or had to wire using the universal one.

Installed the Redarc in my 2016 today used their plug and play harness very easy and just a little extra cabling that easily fits behind the kick panel.

I did run into a problem when removing the lower dash panel I had to take the hood release cable out of the pull mechanism and now can't get it back in. Anyone experienced this have suggestions on how to get the cable seated again?

I received the correct gen 3 harness for the P3 and finished the install today. 20210307_163711.jpg

I like what everyone has said about the REDARC set up. I hadn’t heard of it before. I put a P3 in my truck 2 years ago and love it. Also got the pigtail so it would be plug and play. No splices. Even I couldn’t mess it up. +1 on the REDARC Liberty. Placed just as you described under the dash several months ago. With my '16 SR5, the switches are fairly non existent, so I just chose the tall blank. Turned out, the plus of this location was that I could easily check the light through the steering wheel while towing...

That is awesome I'm glad others are finding this great product. Mine has been working great so far.

I found it has a feature I didn't expect. I had a bad bulb socket on my pop-ups right brake light. The thing actually flashes red for a bulb error.

    Another REDARC fan here.

When we started actively looking for a travel trailer, I started looking into all the “extras” that would be needed. I was sold on the redarc because the installation was simple, looked like Toyota installed it, and it had great reviews.

We took our first trip a few weeks ago. We got up to Oregon and back without any issues.

I’ve had mine fully installed for months but haven’t plugged in the connector yet. Nothing to tow. But I have knocked my knee on the knob a few times. :)

Need 6 car garage and a TT or two..

TPH-015 as pictured. I installed a Tow Pro Elite in my Gen 3 earlier this week. The TPH-015 harness from Redarc plugs directly into the factory TRD towing harness and the white wire needs to go to the chassis ground. I used the ground on the side that the other connectors use. It is secured with a 10mm nut if I remember correctly. I have a few more pictures in this post .
