So a little off topic, but I figured this would be a good place to start. I am trying to wire a chase bar, and thought the trailer harness would be a decent source for the inputs.

Does anybody have any experience with running a 4-pin splitter off of their 7 pin harness with the following product? I thought 7 pin plug assemblies were standardized, but this is showing as incompatible on the Curt website. My tacoma has the tow package. Any ideas?

And yes, as far as I know, all 7 pin harnesses are the same. I wonder if it says that it isn't compatible because it isn't standard to have the tow package.

I've got the one I bought from the parts department at the Toyota Dealer. I don't have a pic but its a Toyota part, think I paid around $20 for it. Mine has the tow package too.

    Thread revival!

How did the install go OP? I just picked up a chase bar and had the exact same thought. I have t-taps, but if I could install it without splicing into factory wiring that would be better.

Nope, I tapped my light into the tailight harness wires using good ol solder, shrinkwrap, and tape. I don't run it full time but it hasn't failed me yet.

did you end up adding a fuse between the tail light wires and chase bar wires?

Wow, never got a notification for any of this. Long story short, i tapped my trailer brake controller signal wire in the cab since it was right next to my switchpros leads for the amber and reverse functions. Works like a charm.
