Here in South Jersey we have the Pine Barrens, there are a bunch of interesting trails there some of which I have managed to map out using the GPS. There is a lot of history and ruins to be discovered in the pines as it was at one time setteled, and now the forrest has re-claimed most of it, though there is not much that actually requires the 4wd, and we don't have any good rock crawling, atleast where I have been.

I've been to Tellico three times and it's a blast. Two years ago since I was there...

If you live in the area and go for a day trip, there's lot of trails to keep the stockers/beginners happy. If you go for an entire week - not so much.

    http://www.tellico4x4.com/map1.htm

The trails do get worse and worse every year as the trails wear. I've been up with a Wrangler on 33/35's dual lockers and trailerd up each time (12 hour drive). Rolled my Wrangler going down schoolbus trail.

Here's some shots from today at a local "private" spot.....so pissed, the camera batteries died shortly after arrival.
