I am sure there is more but wife is starting to give me the side eye to add more! Like I heard they are not mods but it's a BUILD!
I own a 2022 Tacoma double cab TRD Sport 4x4 and I was wondering should I need to know my tranny temp when towing? My truck came with a hitch so my assumption is I have an internal transmission cooler. The truck has several adds for performance. I have an OTT tune, K-N filter, Borla exhaust system, timbren load boosters for the rear and a Redarc brake controller. I have an equalizer hitch setup for our camper. When we retire in a few years we are taking a road-trip across the USA and was wondering should I be monitoring my tranny temp? The gross weight of the trailer is 4000 lbs. Thanks in advance.

    Up to you.
Your model year does not have an axillary cooler like early models have. Also you are tuned.

Its never a bad idea to gather information. What you do with that info is the real piece of value though.

like duff said short answer is yes , but if your going to tow a lot then you should upgrade to an extern transmission cooler or simply buy a bigger truck that can handle constant towing

I'm looking at the 2022 Tacoma brochure, and it shows ATF cooler and Engine oil cooler are both Standard on all trim levels with automatic transmission.
    Not available with manual transmission.

With the OBD Fusion app, you can use Carplay to connect to your OBD II reader where you can display PIDs on your head unit.

    Interesting.
I have a cooler installed on my 2023 from the factory.
And the receiver and associated wiring harness.

Are you suggesting the 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2023 brochures are untrue?

To clarify, every AT tacoma has AT fluid cooler inside of the engine's radiator. Yearly models with the tow package have an additional AT fluid cooler hooked up to the radiator's AT fluid line on the its side. You can see it on the driver's side of the radiator. Apparently, it was discontinued after 2020.

Op, 2020 models and up dont have an external transmission coolers. If this is something you may be worried about you may want to add an external transmission cooler. Keeping an eye on temperature may help as well. Also dont bother checking if its there , its not lol.

I'm not being condescending at all, but did change the wording to make you happy and avoid a ban.
Every brochure from 2012 and newer has the exact same wording.
My 2023 has an external cooler installed.

I am questioning your absolute statement, without any proof, that these are discontinued.
I have one installed from the factory, on a 2023/10 production date vehicle.

Toyota transmissions have been cooled through the main radiator for a very long time. Decades.
This is nothing new, but calling it an ATF cooler in the brochure is very misleading.
Especially when I have all the other towing package components installed at the factory.

So yes, the brochure people are lying.
    Pity.
