I have a 2014 Tacoma and I have noticed the transmission seems to be slipping for a second.I turned into a parking lot and got back on the gas and was like in neutral for a second and then bam in gear.It has felt like I got bumped from behind a few times I stopped at a light. It don't happen all the time but it is happening more often.I've only had it 3 weeks so I guess it's back to dealer.I should have kept my FJ.this is the second one the first one was totaled after 3 weeks and I replaced it with this one.Seems like Tacoma's are bad luck for me.

These trucks seem to downshift pretty quick when u get off the gas. I thought my 13 was slipping but if it was slipping it would do it when you hammer on it.

mine is an 05, but the bump from behind feeling is normal for these trucks. Mine does it and if you search the internet you'll see others do to. As for the possible slipping, they're had been talk on here about trucks being low on transmission fluid straight from the factory. Might want to get that checked.I know that if I'm coasting slowly down a hill, make a turn and just barely give it had, the engine will rev and it seems to delay shifting to the proper gear. Doesn't do it if I give it more gas around turn. Similar to your issue?

It is most likely low trans fluid. Had the same happen to me going around tight corners and thought it was traction control, but no lights or beeping. I ended up checking the trans fluid, and sure enough, it was low. When I filled it, I tried to simulate the situation, and it didn't do it again. Also, get that crap WS fluid out of your trans the first chance you get, plenty of other high quality fluids that far supersede WS out there.

I have to ask when you hit the gas did you hear the engine rev higher or was there just a delay in the truck reacting. If the engine revs higher then the transmission slipped. If there was just a delay in the truck reacting it might have been throttle lag. People who have manual trans complain about throttle lag when they shift the engine revs like they still have their foot on the gas even though they don't. It is not as noticable on the autos but every now and then when I hit the gas there is a half second delay in the truck reacting. Either way I guess your best bet is to go back to the dealer and have it checked for peace of mind.

I stopped at a red light and as soon as the truck came to a stop it felt like I was bumped from behind,a downshift surge or something.

did you have your AC on... if so that was probably the AC kicking on and the idle going up because of it.

The bumping at red lights is normal. Mine also slips every now and again. Seems worse in cold weather.

This has been a problem with Tacoma's since 2005. Some say its axle wrap, some think its the transmission having issues. What I think the actual problem is, the driveshaft is binding when you come to a stop due to not having the inner splines greased up where the shafts come together. Our driveshafts aren't one solid piece, but several linked together. I had this issue on my 2005 dclb. It felt like someone bumped me from behind every time I came to a stop. I pulled apart the driveshaft, greased the splines, put back together and hardly noticed it anymore. If you have a block rear lift it may be axle wrap. Anyway, hope this helps.

I took my driveshaft down and greased the slip yolk and that got rid of the thud at stops/takeoffs for about 10,000 miles, but it's back again. I'm thinking about drilling and tapping it for a zerk. My transmission always shifted kinda soft until I flushed it via the cooler line method, now it has a definitive shift throughout all the gears. I believe that it may have been low on fluid from the factory. (I also added a spin on remote in-line transmission filter)

Good idea on the remote trans filter. I don't know why car manufacturers steered away from this. Luckily I don't have to deal with it anymore (automatic) since I have a 6spd now.

You beat me to it, mine does not usually bump at a stop, but almost always on takeoff. I have a theory that because my truck has quite a bit of axle wrap (leaf packs are getting worn out) it is bottoming out the slip yolk on the female side, causing the bump on takeoff.
