OK here is the deal. The entire front diff was replaced the good news no more noise the bad no real cause of the noise the axles were not replaced. Here is what I found when I run it up on my lift, there is a design change in the diff it does not look exactly the same and it's black. The left axle is definitely a tighter fit in the diff. I'm still leaning towards the support bearing. So OZ I would try a support bearing first.

I wonder if they incorporated a bushing similar to the ECGS bushing

That is good question most of the front wheel drive stuff uses bushings not needle bearings.

Hmm I'll revive this ole thread. I'm getting a awful sound when in 4wd and coasting. It goes away when I give it had or put it in 2wd. Now today I went from 4wd to 2wd wile moving 5mph~ and it made a very noticeable sound kind of like changing gears on a mountian bike. Any thoughts? Btw. I did wheel it pretty hard two weeks ago. And I beat the transfer case off a few rocks. But it worked the whole time no problems. Then a week later I put it in 4h and now getting the noise. Also idk if it matters but I wheel in 4lo.

I checked it the next day. No leaks or anything. But I didn't actually pull the fill plug and look.

Ordered a new axle today. I didn't want to f with putting the boot on so i just got the whole axle. Had the truck on a lift today. And it won't make the noise on the lift. :( but the drivers side wheel bearing is shot so I'm hoping it's making the sound. But I've never heard a wb make that sound before. But it could be. We'll see I ordered a new wb so I hope that it fixes it

May as well rebuild the axle for a trail spare.

That would be an option. I may just put it up for sale. On a side note since I have the replacement I did some minor wheeling today Sooo i would deff rebuild it. Hoping to get wheel bearing in this week and I hope it fixes my noise. I'm skeptical but you never know. I need to order the new idler pulley too. Kinda annoyed cuz I changed them all 4 months ago and now one is bad. O well :( maybe make the big dogs meet
