I didn’t either and my manual is 05-08’ so I guess that why I always stated the “wrong” one.

I have never done the paper clip method haha. I checked the instructions once and laughed at it.

Glad we found the TSB, now we can use it to prevent future issues.

Which makes me wonder I’d they ever actually issued a TSB for the rear u-bolts.
    Ain’t no way it’s 37 ft/lbs.

I did that paper clips method. I didn’t trust my “Chinese” infrared thermometer.
Nor do I trust the outside pan temp to be correct.

I’d rather measure what came out, and pour that back in. Before measuring the outside pan temp.

Which obviously means, I don’t have a scan gauge or the like.
So I can not monitor OBDII temps.

Now I'm wondering what the actual difference is in the amount of fluid, I can't imagine it being more than 1/2 a quart which wouldn't be detrimental.

I mean as a professional we like to see raw data, not a flashing light that might be right.

We have to get you a techstream one day, you'd enjoy it, even on a 2nd gen.

    I have no idea.
All I can go by is what Gearcruncher has stated in the past.
More is better when it comes to being “full” on an A750.

Oh piss all difference, but we have customers like OP that will check and measure fluid coming out.

I had one sienna van owner complain and we had to show security video of me performing the "hot" method on his van. People hate us some times as you know.

To a point, too far over and you start having aeration problems.

    Yes, that’s true.
I’ll see if I can find the post to where he says how he checks them.
It has more to do with the “trickle” flow rate from the check plug.

Yea for sure, at least Toyota doesn't have you check it when the fluid is boiling hot like some others.

The hot method on the FWD models is 90c, fucking miserable. We use it when its past 45c. Have to use a special plug that raises the drip point.

Really? Please tell me it doesn’t require removing a bolt and having scalding hot fluid pour like the Tacoma?

My guess is typo seeing as the TSB simply states what the correct/updated temperature range is and mentions nothing of the vehicle's AT TEMP light needing to be corrected/fixed.
