    Absolute newbie here.
Just hit 100000 miles on my 2015 4 cyl so i figured id change out all my fluids. Recently finished the transmission fluid and I have absolutely stripped the threads on the drain plug or pan. Fortunately its not leaking at all and been running fine over the past 2 weeks unless I poke at the plug. But now that i have driven another 100 miles i was about to do another drain and fill but I cant even get the plug out. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Currently the plan is to completely replace the pan and gasket. Is this an impossible job for someone with little experience? Thanks for all the help in advance

It should be an easy job for anyone with some mechanical experience.
Do a search on Tacoma world as I'm sure someone has written about removing and installing the transmission pan. Usually covered by searching for transmission fluid replacement.

No, it should be a fairly easy job.
    You have a 2.7. You have a dipstick.
Unbolt the pan, bolt on new pan, fill the transmission to the full mark on the dipstick. DONE

    Is you truck a 4x4 or 2WD?
I might be able to get you the install info.

It doesn't look like it makes any difference if it's 4x4 or 2WD.
Toyota wants you to use FIPG (RTV).
You can use a gasket, in place of FIGG / RTV, if you can find one.

One bit of advice. make SURE the small bolts for the pan are DRY when you tighten them up. If the threads are wet with ATF fluid, you will over torque them and risk stripping the thread in the transmission. YES, it has happened. Most guys don't even torque them. They just snug them up.

OOPs. I missed the part about it being a 2.7 liter.

Concept is the same it's just easier to fill than the "sealed" transmission.
