    Hey there,

I was recently out in the mountains on a hunting trip when my Tacoma stopped working in first/second. It would work in 3/4/5 and reverse.

I got it towed to a repair shop, where they determined the tranny was shot. They replaced it once, and on the test drive it got stuck in 3rd, so they ordered yet another tranny and put it in. I got it from the shop on Sunday, and everything works again.

However, my truck feels weaker and gets a little worse mpg. It has a hard time getting up past 70, especially going uphill. It used to have no problem. It is a v4 manual, 4wd. Is this normal? Should I be freaking out? It kind of feels like this tranny could go out at any given moment. It definitely chokes a little bit accelerating from a stop in first. Anything I should look at/change?

    Thank you!

off the top of my head... If the battery was disconnected the ECU has reset... it might take a few days to get the ECU to re-learn.

I'd bring it back and let them fix it. Only they know what they did at this point - did they replace the clutch while in there?
