    Hello,
2015 Tacoma with 89,000 Miles. Had a shudder when I bought it used at 50,000 miles. It is currently being repaired on the 100,000 mile drive train warranty. They said a bad torque converter. Shudder happened mostly at 35-40 ish mph.

Should I be concerned going forward? Couldn't it just happen again in another 50,000 miles? Seems like so many tacos have had shudder issues on many different model years. I have also thought about trading up to a 2019, but do they also have issues?

    Thank you!

I will point you at something that may or may not be a consideration:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...s-for-second-gen-4-liter-trucks.289913/page-5

Next scroll down to post #93 by gearcruncher and see what he has to say about that device.

A number of people on this forum claim that refreshing the transmission fluid did the trick. If you do that - change the filter too. Many will say that the filter is nothing more than a metal screen that doesn't clog. I pulled the one out of my wifes A750E 4R and the one in my '15 Tacoma Tow Pkg. Mileage was 95K and 46K respectively. Both had a fair amount of gunk just inside where the screen is. That means that gunk was all over the rest of the inside. Same group will say rinse it out. How do you know you got it all out?

If you decide to change ATF - change the filter as well.

Thank you for the info, good read.
I assume the filter and solenoid will not be problem since a new TC and I believe tranny are being installed on my truck by the dealer under warranty?

Solenoid should be built into the transmission. Can't imagine new transmission not coming with new filter.

If this shudder pops up again in the future - I would look at the thread I posted.
